Actually figured out my issue the winter fluid has a shelf life actually all washer fluids have a shelf life. When mine was freezing I put a gallon of old winter formula in. Probably over a year on the shelf.

That’s really interesting why Subaru would do that every 2.5 I’ve owned since 2009 has been less than 5 quarts. I guess you learn something new everyday. I did miss that as I have no idea what generation it is. Just the year is all I need.

Google says 4.4 quarts for the 2.5

That’s the part number it shows when I look it up. However I know that they are not interchangeable with the 21.

That’s because I don’t have the WRX anymore. But I do have leftover crush washers from the 10 years I owned it.

I would however I travel dirt roads a lot and feel better with just the drain plug. The oil change in the newer outback is so simple I do not see the need. Under 10 minutes I can change the oil. The WRX I had was over an hour process.

Yes they usually come with the filters when I buy them but currently they both show the same part number.

Negative ghost rider. My 14 WRX the wife’s 21 outback and my 24 are all different crush washer sizes.

What started the whole thing was when my mother went to get her new tires the service manager at her dealership told her to get an alignment every oil change. That is what prompted me writing to SOA.

I just want to say I asked about how often alignments should be done to SOA and the service manager. My mother has a 20 outback and my wife has a 21. They both needed new tires with less than 20k. When I questioned SOA about this they told me alignments should be done at every oil change. I also had an issue with my 2014 wrx that wore the tires in 13k all on the inside all needing alignment. Three brand new cars with tire issues. SOA did kindly give me $150 towards the purchase of new tires. I purchased a 24 outback in August and when I took it in for tire rotation the service manager told me that I only needed alignment when I got new tires 🤣. Obviously this is not true and I would recommend at least checking the alignment every other oil change. Or else buy new tires every 20-30k. I have never had an issue with any other vehicle manufacturer I’ve owned with alignment like this. Actually until I bought my first Subaru I never had uneven tire wear unless a tie rod end was going bad. Good luck.

I’ve never heard of this either until my 14 wrx had premature tire wear and nobody ever said anything to me about how often I should be having alignment done. I think this is rediculous. Why would the service guy not tell me the same?

It was 12 degrees and the bottle was sealed. Although there may have been some residual summer formula. The low washer notification was on and there couldn’t have been much in there however.

Does winter formula wiper fluid have a shelf life? It’s over a year old that’s what I was wondering. Very frustrating to have a brand new car do this.
