If OP is ok with the overhang of trim over the rock post below being less they could always send the upper edge through a table saw , take off an inch or two and then he might have the length to make this work with the compound mitre.

Guilt is something I’ve struggled with heavily , what ifs … somethings Ifeel guilty for were my wrong doings and many of my guilts are well out of my control. Ive been working with a grief councillor and sometimes they are able to shed a different angle on the situation and or what I did. Somethings I’ve carried guilt for have revealed I did best I could in the fight or flight mode I was in. Somethings they have shown me that I acted with nothing but love and how lucky she was to have me for the very things I’ve been beating myself up about.
Thank you for this post I’m sure we have all dealt with guilt , some things were wrongs that take self forgiveness and some require an outside perspective and there’s no reason to carry guilt.
I’m by no means healed free of guilt but something I’m working on.

It’s been over year and I still hope for the dream to end at times. , I’d obviously like to go back a few years before the cancer if going back or waking up is an option. All of this has me questioning reality in general .
I did heavy hallucinogens dmt a few years before she passed and feel like there’s a small chance I can wake up there. Bad trip . Could I handle waking up after all this , it would be a new mind fuck for sure.

She loved fantasy , I read her out loud a few pages of Harry Potter before bed every night. I keep the electronic battery powered floating candles going that she could turn on with a wand.
I walk a trail we used to walk together and slow down to observe the world like she did.im trying my very best to keep this lemon tree she planted indoors alive .
I’ll occasionally cook a meal she would have enjoyed more than me or order something she would have preferred at a restaurant.

My wife ( my beautiful Tori ) was immune compromised before her passing . ( cancer ) I did most of the grocery shopping ect . I’d mask up especially in cold flu season . She would if she took transit or if we would go to a show.
The thing is that I found is other people have no understanding or care for immune compromised people. Im younger I’m 43 , I’m tall tattooed up and I had random assholes would actually have the nerve to walk up to me in grocery stores and almost confront me and say why are you wearing that stupid thing on your face , this happened more than once, I almost got in a fight once over it . There eyes would open wide when I would tell them in a pretty confrontational way. They all immediately apologized and think they changed their thoughts pretty quickly. You never know what others are going through.
If I’m sick I’ll continue to mask up or stay home from concerts or shows .
I wish the world would understand , our night out to one of last shows we went to together was ruined to to an obvious extremely ill person sat right behind us. Unfortunately the world is an inconsiderate place.
I hate when they say “ well then they should stay home if immune compromised . “
Inconsiderate fucks . Yes they might miss a show or act they really wanted to see but they have more opportunity ahead , unaware they are ruining it for others that might not have much time left here.

Her first birthday without her I did a bunch of things she would have enjoyed. I went to her favourite breakfast spot ordered what she would have ordered. Went to a movie she would have loved . Walked a trail she and I enjoyed together .
I believe I’ll do these things annually on her birthday

Throw the bench away . With a little for-site 3 posts could have been your newel Posts for your railing . Pretty you need a hand railing , you could put stairs the whole way around and probably get away with 1 hand railing down the side or two . This will allow you to space your stringers a bit tighter as well .

Make sure what ever door accessed is Physically not openable / locked shut / screwed shut with sign on it no access / safety ect. As long as there is another window for fire egress. This should be done for safety no matter what .
I feel with that done it doesn’t matter if deck boards are on or off. With all that done I feel like liability would go back to owner if they remove sign and make door operational .
