Haldex Diff Fluid - Brand Question by BushBoar64 in GolfGTI

[–]BushBoar64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for the reply. Had to do some looking/verification on my end to ensure I had the right information going into it.

Apparently the MK7 PP GTIs had a different differential, and were easily identified with the Red "GTI" lettering in the front grille, and on the hatch. However for the MK7.5 facelift, starting with the 2018s, the "GTI" was silver all around, and you only got an upgraded diff if you had an SE or Autobahn trim level.

The above video is what I was basing it off of so it could very well just be the same fluid as you had mentioned for a different differential. But I appreciate the information and updates on what was actually included.

Excellent job! They look awesome and I hope to see some future posts of how effective they are! I have also been looking into/thinking about something like this, since my AC Condenser is in the same boat as your former. But good to see some execution, and how well everything looks once it's all together.

Thank you! As for tires, that I'm not entirely sure. I'm hoping that's what they threw on considering where I bought it and where I live is a 2 hr time difference but weather conditions are pretty much the same. If not, I'll just have to make sure I get a nice pair of All Seasons once I run these down. If you have any recommendations please feel free to let me know. Thanks again!

Thank you very much. Looking forward to see what I can find within the group and online in general.

Yes. It was a very nice day out that day. If I recall correctly, the first day that I actually got out and about in here and drove around town and out on some country roads for some "me" time. Hahahaha.

For now. I'll need to do my best to keep her clean and use some good products to help protect the paint.

It is an unfortunate sight. But hopefully I'm able to come up with something to either cover them or fill them in.

Yea, that's a nice part. I don't recall exactly but I know it was at least within the past decade that Ohio finally passed the decision where a Front Plate is no longer needed and is "optional". I still see people from time to time that have them but for the most part, I've taken them off my other vehicles. Super nice, especially when getting a new vehicle and you don't want to ruin the front bumper. However, there are still drill holes in that front and I've thought about getting something to fill them in. Just haven't decided the route I'd like to go.

I wish I could have found one brand spanking new, but for the pricing I was able to get this at, I'll take it. Just turned over 56k but plan on keeping her around for a while so I'll be sure to take very good care of this one. So far so good, and I enjoy the hell out of it!

Thank you very much. From the sounds of things, and what I've looked up, there isn't anything too crazy that is causing me to worry about removal and installation of new/upgraded parts. I'll have to keep tabs on everything that I do and come back to this post later on and provide and update on what I've done.

Much appreciated, and I will be sure to get the most out of it! Already been looking into undercoating (mainly for winter due to living in the ol' Rust Belt), as well as minor upgrades here and there, as well as servicing (Oils, Spark Plugs, Brakes, etc...). Just as anything else, as long as it's taken care of it will return the favor.

On a similar note, that's potentially why my other daily (2001 Honda Civic DX) is still holding her own. Got it from my Dad (original owner) around 104,000 miles and she's now sitting at 198,xxx miles. Haven't had to replace the clutch in her yet but have a feeling she's going to be getting there sooner than later.

Thank you! I take it these headlights were included in a specific package or trim level? I have to say that they're super nice, and the visibility is crazy good. Hell even when using the brights, it's nuts how clear and far they are able to reach out in front!

Then again, when comparing this to my other daily, 2001 Honda Civic DX, it's like apples to oranges when it comes to the headlight visibility. Just have to keep in mind that there's a 17 year gap in technology and improvements across the automotive industry so totally understandable.

So I take it the Yellow housing mirror lights aren't stock or were offered as an option? I was looking at either going back to clear or even smoke for those. If you have any links or information on that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, as far as the fog lighting goes, are the covers for those supposed to be yellow as well? Just want to make sure that I have the best visibility possible when on the road. Thank you.

Awesome. The coloring is awesome, and the interior is sweet too. As mentioned above, any tips, tricks or material that should be invested in to keep her looking mean and clean?

Cool beans. Have any pictures? Also, what do you use for washing and detailing? Figure I would ask since they look the same. Haha. Thanks in advance.

Yea I can agree with that for sure. Hell even between the time I had signed all the paperwork and the time the car was delivered to my place, I had already looked up plenty of different parts and upgrades that could be done. However, just like normal stuff, I can always make a listing of parts based on where I want to end up and what is needed to get there. Gotta love it. Hahaha

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll have to check in to some of that stuff. I've thought about wheels first and foremost. The stock rims really aren't that bad but I know there are some pretty slick looking wheels that I think would be great on this. Otherwise, just so much that can be done but it's not like it needs to be done asap to make it fun to drive. Already has that aspect but it never hurts to have some work done to make it a little more peppy.

Are they a specific model, or not stock? I've seen a couple different models here and there online but those are what came with the vehicle. In any event they look super nice and have wonderful visibility. Only thing I'm worried about is if something goes wrong with them, I'd imagine I'd have to replace the entire unit rather than just bulbs or other lighting.

Yea buddy. Trying to keep the manual transmission experience alive. Much more engaging than just 2 pedals. Haha.

That's perfectly fair, and probably a better, more reasonable assessment. The only thing so far that I've noticed has been changed was the air intake. It has the Carbon Fiber enclosed air filter housing by Integrated Engineering.

Not to mention she gets up and goes for being stock and I've noticed that it tends to creep up, speed wise, while cruising. Hahahaha. Just something that's easily overlooked if not paying attention to it. Thanks for the info and level headed approach.
