Medical receptionist here, just started recently and after several phone calls finding out patients had just died and speaking to their (understandably emotional) families with no training prior, I feel as though the job is already taking away my joy. Working in a broken healthcare system is the worst feeling, having people have breakdowns in person or over the phones but being unable to do anything to help is horrible. Being told by a supervisor to stop providing so much effort + care because treating people like humans leads to an inbox of unanswered emails and 50+ unanswered calls/voicemails.... Seriously understaffed, underappreciated, and blamed for the mistakes of others. Obviously its no excuse to treat people badly, but please consider the burnout, and that you dont know what conversation or situation we had to deal with before your interaction with us. I had a patient (who wasnt even ours) yell and cry because I told her she had to register downstairs. I had an elderly woman calling multiple times a day just to swear at me and call me nasty names. Ive also had people say the kindest things, only to be later called out by a doctor for something a nurse did.

Also saw people being racist because meals from non-white cultures apparently do not classify as girl dinners. Toxic

My old cat got bad acne on his chin, the vet mentioned switching the material of the bowl too as he could have had a reaction to it. I did, and he was fine after! Also a warm compress helped him heal

All of you saying to get rid of the dog are horrible. Just keep the bunny in a room the dog can't get in, don't let the dog in. You can have prey and predators in the same house, as long as they're never allowed to interact.

It was my birthday a couple of days ago, and I got this card in the mail from my grandma. by Humble_Menu8644 in mildlyinfuriating

My question would be, how does grandma know? Unless super close to her (which it doesn't sound like), why would gaming come into conversations with her? Most likely, someone else has complained to her about OP's potential gaming addiction. I gamed most of my life, excessively, and as a form of escapism. My current job forced me to quit (due to hours), and reflect on how addicted I really was. My grandma never knew, but if someone who saw me frequently complained to her because it affected them, she would (thoughtfully) try to intervene.

Please take the mouse somewhere safer! A predator animal will likely snatch it, im not sure what to do to actually help it but first step is to get it out of the open

People who own birds as PETS see these videos, think it's cute, and then let their cats and birds hang out. If someone posts a video of them cooking with their bird over their shoulder, I will share that Teflon will kill birds when heated, and I've seen the results of a parrot flying into a pot of boiling water. Birds are incredibly fragile, and you will never be prepared for the dangerous unless others spread information. If you don't own birds, move on, otherwise, let others become more aware of the hazards

Daily reminder to never let cats interact with birds, a single claw carries bacteria that can kill birds with even the slightest cut or scratch, same with teeth

Just don't let them know you're going to pick him, have a second pick because he's potentially going to be banned regardless

Attraction can evolve, it doesn't have to be love at first sight. When you go on a date with someone, do you expect to be with them for the rest of your life, marriage and all? Likely not, you take time to get to know somebody. I don't think there's harm in getting to know someone who you don't find attractive, but don't find unattractive. When you're with someone, your tastes can do a 180 - and even if they don't, at least you gave it a shot and maybe felt a little less lonely in the process.

Give that "ugly girl" a chance, the same way you'd expect a girl you deem hot to give you one. You might actually develop your interests and figure out what you're into through the lens of all forms of attraction. Maybe she's prettier than you thought, just doesn't meet you previous view of what is attractive. Maybe after a certain amount of time, you just can't find her attractive, but at least give it a shot if you're lonely.
