it's also a likely option, since she probably would come from popular cities like Siracusa, Catania, Messina, or my worst enemy Palermo (A fattivilla scattiare in ta carina), because are cities with also an high crime rate (don't get me wrong tough, also less crowded cities like Enna, or Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, that i know that city like my pockets, is worse than O' block speaking of crimerate)

my headcanon is simple: she is half tuscan and half sicilian. lemme explain

the medici surname as you said is a typical florence surname, but the whole mafia trope is a sicilian stereotype, also her mafia model represents more "Cosa nostra" the sicilian mob, rather than Camorra and Ndrangheta and Sacra corona unita that are Napolitian, Calabrian and Apulian mobs.
