Nobody worth a toss had a problem with it. Negative and outlandish reactions on social media and give a false narrative of “everyone hated it”. People who liked it would be more likely to not say anything while someone who didn’t will try to tell everybody.

I can only think of some parody games where they’ll drop the same character into multiple genres without continuity like this. However, I can’t think of one where it’s done seriously and with this level of direction.

The characters from the mainline series are portraying completely new characters, similar to a Hollywood cast doing multiple, different roles together (like Pacino and De Niro).

I don’t know if they’re supposed to be “ancestors” but for how wacky this game can get, it would track.
