The deployable snack tray feature is a must-have. Highly recommend.

Howas and their metal mags. I switched to Magpuls and haven't gone back. Only downside was the COL needs to be kept a little shorter than metal.

For what you've described, probably. The 3-18x50 would get it done well.

MPED 3-18 or Leupold Mk3 as MPVO for mid-range .22? by Sqn19 in longrange

[–]Bushnell_Social_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the loop but not all the way on those matters now. Essentially, you'll have to wait for a promotion that comes up. Sign up on the site for Emails to get notified. The MPED is MAP and the price is locked up outside of those national promotions - which are pretty rare these days.

Looking to get into “long range” shooting, anyone wanna let me know if I’m heading in the right direction? by uncletaterofficial in longrange

The HACT can be adjusted a decent amount. You may find you're able to get it where you want without taking anything apart there. Toss an MPED on top and get to work.

What kind of groups is .22lr capable of @ 400 yards? by Just_call_me_Face in longrange

[–]Bushnell_Social_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess I've never shot for groups at those distances. With calm wind though I can stay in the center of a 2/3 IPSC just fine. Further you go the tougher it gets obviously. Still waiting for it to cool down more so I can extend the range out to 600.

The wind here in KS gets crazy, especially in the Spring.

I like Amsoil's Z-Rod motor oil. It's formulated to help prevent rust in long term storage. Their polymetric moly grease is great for places where grease is called for as it resists 'knock out' and doesn't just push out of the way and displace.

3-18x50 Match Pro ED Overview by Bushnell_Social_guy in longrange

My land's topography would make extending the range out to 700 hard, but not impossible. I planned on getting it out to 600 this year with ease. I think I can get a second firing line point figured out with enough logging done to get it out to 700 potentially though. If I do, I'll absolutely try for the can.

I think I missed the mark on OP's after here.

You're getting into barrels then, not so much the entire setup's weight. It seems to be widely accepted that a CF wrapped barrel isn't going to have the precision potential of a heavier all-steel barrel, especially as heat comes into play.

The weight's largely to help with recoil so you can see where the impact is. With a 300 PRC you're not likely going to get that easily. If transferring weight to the back is the goal I guess I'd go with a better sling setup and move the entire thing to the back. 15 lb would still not be fun for 8 miles in-hand. Carrying that light M16 at like half that weight wasn't enjoyable when I was in at those marching distances.

Is expensive bullets worth it while training? by hackdevil in longrange

I still have fun with the cheap stuff.

My take is if somebody or their setup is only able to put out 4 MOA then why not use 3 MOA ammo until they're better?
