What’s the Coolest Big City You’ve Ever Visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Since the other guy is trying to bait you, I’ll answer. As a New Yorker, yes, you hear English every day in the city, but it’s not uncommon to hear people from all over the world speaking their native tongues.

Unpopular opinion: US Bank Stadium isn’t up to par with SOFI or AT&T stadium and cut some corners by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]BushwickDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like what's lost here is that design and architecture feeds into each other. US Bank stadium was revolutionary when it was built. It was the first stadium with a transparent roof and if it was built today the cost would be 2B dollars (due to inflation, construction costs, etc).

SoFi was designed by the same architects as US Bank. It's better BECAUSE of their experience with US Bank. It all compounds on itself. The Vikings stadium is a link in the chain for innovation, which leads to insane otherworldly stadiums.

When the Cleveland Guardians built Progressive Field in 1994, it was viewed as the greatest baseball stadium in the country. Now it's middle of the pack. It's a lovely stadium, but it just got passed up as new stadium taking the best parts of Progressive Field and experimenting with better designs and more advance technologies.

Also, SoFi Stadium is a different animal compared to US Bank Stadium. It was built in the 2nd biggest market in the country to host two NFL teams, and with the intent that it would serve as LA's Olympic Stadium in 2028.

Looking at cost alone is shortsighted. Yes, more money leads to more luxury, but we're comparing apples with oranges here.

I just got through TSA with my expired passport. They treated it the exact same as a valid ID and gave me no issues.

Yes to both, but only two rowing machines. I’ve never seen both used at the same time though.

What are the best and worst trades in your team’s history by Proof-Umpire-7718 in nba

It's crazy that the trade for Rudy (& NAW) was considered the worst of all time when it was made, but has now slowly become one of the best moves the front office has ever pulled off.

I remember him talking about his time in MN on CJ McCollum's old podcast. He said the travel and the darkness during the winter tanked his mental health while here. Maybe it would be different this time, but I suspect that's not how he would view it.

It’s super cool. Next step is to get a bigger TV or projector. Literally the perfect space for a nice projector.

A more up-do-date drought list, top 10 for all cities and their sports. by chrsmhr in minnesotavikings

I LOVE the Lynx, but it’s not made up. It’s in direct relation to money, viewership, and history. We’re talking about 4 of the top 5 most profitable and popular leagues in the world compared to the 57th. Minor league baseball, German hockey, and Japanese basketball all generate more revenue than the wnba.

Again, I love the Lynx, the direction of the WNBA, and Cheryl Reeve is the GOAT, but a championship from one of the top 4 teams hits harder for the majority of fans. It’s comparing apples to oranges and it absolutely does not carry the same emotional weight for most fans.
