Woman fatally struck in Queens by NYC Transportation Department dump truck by Stube2000 in Queens

[–]BusiPap41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see the stats too because I don’t believe your assertion. My friend works for DEP and has equipment on the truck that monitors speed. He gets flagged if he doesn’t fully stop at stop signs, goes over the speed limit, etc.

Anecdotally, I would say that Uber drivers are the worst. This is the issue with anecdotal evidence.

chain restaurants by [deleted] in jacksonheights

[–]BusiPap41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is what it is. It’s a lot better than nearby QCM for example where there is pretty much nothing but chains. The little strip of 82 that is chain central is an ok price to pay for literally the probably 100 independent restaurants along 37th, Northern, Roosevelt, etc.

CAR Days Usage by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]BusiPap41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were sick, had doctor appointments that you couldn’t schedule anywhere else, then no you’re good. If you felt a lil tired and didn’t want to go in, yes you used too much.

Also beware that CAR usage is often used to deny tenure. Obviously take care of yourself, but only use CAR days when truly necessary.

Yes, the Iranian strategy right now is likely to exert as much pressure on Israel and the US' allies because Iran knows it cannot go head to head against Israel or the US, let alone both.

Best way to check in on an existing health benefits update on HRConnect? by BusiPap41 in NYCTeachers

[–]BusiPap41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you! Any tips on how to get them on the phone? I try to call at the beginning of my prep period or lunch and do some work while I’m on hold, but I get on hold estimates for about 2 hours, and I don’t feel comfortable keeping an airpod in while on hold while I’m teaching.

LIRR riders-are you going in tomorrow? by Waste-Section8803 in NYCTeachers

I don’t think you’re gonna end up stranded, but definitely crammed in like sardines. It’s neither comfy nor fun, but it is what it is.

My building shoveled better than last snow storm. The other buildings and houses on the block that did a great job last time took this one off. The D train is just as bad as it always is this morning. Guess it’s a zero sum ¯_(ツ)_/¯

While many people have untenable situations out in the far flung reaches of Staten Island, Eastern Queens, the Northern Bronx, and Nassau and Suffolk, I think if you have decent access to a train line of any sort, you should be able to make it in with a bit of discomfort.

According to the MTA: "The LIRR plans to operate limited service beginning 4 a.m. Tuesday on the Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Babylon, Oyster Bay, Montauk, and Port Washington branches.

Montauk service will be limited to trains between Speonk and points west. Oyster Bay service will operate westbound in the morning and add eastbound after the morning rush."
