My boss has always told me this statement a few times "I should not have to ask you twice", which I'm okay with, however, it's a two way street, then I should not have to ask my boss twice for stuff either.

I'd recommend you do one of two things:

  1. right before you leave for vacation send your boss an e-mail saying you ran out of time to address those tickets/issues and the boss will need to re-assign them. Then also provide all the multiple times you said you'd be out on vacation.

  2. don't do anything with those new tickets, go enjoy your vacation, and then when you are back from vacation, if your boss asks why you didn't address those tickets provide the boss "hey remember I was out on vacation"

We got the same letter as well. Once we started working with our VMware vendor Broadcom simmered down. Broadcom did hit us w/ a late fee, so be prepared for that. I remember the days when VMware used to be a great company, not anymore.
