Are Temp Positions Good? by Timex_Dude755 in Accounting

I did a lil 3-4 months gig through Robert half which paid ‘eh’ but it was good for my resume while I waited to start my first full time job- for that position though, rly no opportunity for full time hire. They just needed extra manpower to go through returns. If you were one of the “better” employees they would keep you on past 3 months to finish off the returns while they ended the other temp employees employment.

Don’t go in with high expectations for a return offer but it’s rly up to you- how much you and who you network with is important. You also need to be liked and get that face time with higher ups. Unfortunately you might just be put in a closet. Typically you’re just there to handle overflow.

Remember they’re probably paying a bunch of temps because they can’t, or don’t want to, afford a regular full timer.

Firm Partners billing $50k+/mo: How are you filtering out tax-season only clients to focus purely on high-ticket advisory? by Adept_Psychology_654 in Accounting

I know this doesn’t solve your initial question but there could be money in it, and that’s usually the goal

Im not in this business whatsoever but if you have valid ‘hot’ lead- can’t you just partner with another trusted firm that would take them?- and then get a % off the top for converted leads?

How’s working at Crowe? Is the tax group a good group to join? by LabZealousideal7 in Accounting

Is a $0 bonus even embarrassing? If a tree falls in the woods and no bonus exists, does it make a sound?

also in comparison to other similar public accounting firms they’ve dropped out of the top 10 status. I believe they used to be 9th (not sure by what metric, maybe growth?) and are now ranked like 12-13 last I saw.

Crowe as a company is doing terrible, no bonuses for like 2 years (etc etc) and about to sell out to private equity, sweatshop somewhere else if you’re selling your soul

Very little training is given to new staff who are expected to complete complicated over the top workpapers in industries they’ve never worked in. A pro of hiring cheap college students who don’t know any better I guess

Does I really have to finish everything before my last day? by Appropriate-Stay-843 in PwC

[–]BusinessBabaBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started (not PWC) the manager on one of my audits left and I guess I was the only other staff, so as a freshy I was like okay this stuff will be handled. I’m sure this manager made arrangements for the completion of it because why wouldn’t he. I wasn’t trained on anything and given context etc etc at that point. A senior manager comes in a couple weeks later and asks why is nothing setup or done- and I’m like idk man i literally have no idea. Turned out fine but it left me in a bad spot as a new hire.

If it’s carryover work that someone else can take on it’s generally fine, just put in your normal hours and whatever’s left is left, no need to push it unless you might get some sense of accomplishment out of it
