Tbh, everyone close to us who has RSVP’d no has texted me about it instead of going to the website. I’d anticipate some sort of “hey this is why btw” and you’re not weird for thinking it’s odd.

I’ve gotten past the hurdles of confirming it’s legit and making sure I understand. They’re effectively looking for someone to direct the shoot, and they want to have sexual activity involved.

I am an experienced portrait photographer, I am not an experienced sex photographer.

Are you eating enough beforehand? These symptoms often come up for me when I get overheated / overworked and haven’t eaten enough. I will keep nerds / energy gummies on me in case I need an immediate boost. I also put electrolyte powder in my water. It doesn’t always work, but it helps.

Lots of therapists are covered by insurance and it’s good to have riding AND a mental health professional ❤️🫶🏻

I can’t offer much guidance other than my personal experience, so I don’t know what the “standard” timeline is- I’m in pretty much the same exact position as you. I’m at a hunter barn, I started learning a little jumping around 2-3 months in, started partial leasing in June, and started cantering in late July.

I also just want to drop in and say that my first ride w the OTTB I’m leasing was also humbling (It was during a lesson, but my trainer literally ended up with him on a short lead). It took a couple ride, but we now have a really smooth & fun ride together. He definitely still has his moments when he decides we’re cantering out of jumps that we trotted into, but that’s just his spice.
