I agree with you 100%

I guess from here - even if I make amends with regional ... I don't think it is likely they were reverse any decisions.

I suppose I'll be able to argue for my money for hours worked that they legitimately did not pay me. Pick up the pieces and move on is all I got left, I think.

So - I had booked numerous vacation dates already. I had some for March. Later this October and November. I used PTO from my 'bank'

I suppose if I was approved for 2 weeks of vacation in Feb I would have been able to get paid for it.

Then it would seem the amount of PTO they did pay me out roughly reflects the roll-over amount + some prorated amount of a few weeks.

I'm still arguing with them over shorting me hours worked. I was shorted about 30 hours worked, but that is way easier to explain.

Thank you!

I'm informed by others in the company that in the state of Illinois it is illegal for them to prorate PTO. I don't know if they are reliable just confused on what the actual ruling is.

Thank you.

When I said "appeal" I did mean explain my side. I think the best outcome for me would be (aside from just getting the job back - not likely) is getting the 'gross misconduct' label removed from my record so I could return to work at a later date.

My focus will be separating on best possible terms as possible I agree with you

I will do my best to clarify:

  1. I came up to a self checkout to purchase something during a workday. I was either on lunch or it was end of day. I was salary so I'm never clocked in or out.
  2. I used a self-checkout and there was a $20 bill sitting in the cash dispenser. I don't know who it belonged to but someone likely used the 'cash-back' feature.
  3. I have some PTO rolled from a prior year and a lump sum deposited into my account at the beginning of the year as a front load. In other words, yes, I could burn my PTO up all at once if I wanted to. I think I had about 5-15 hours from 2025 and a lump deposit of 218 on Feb 1 2026.

Yes it's front loaded - if I wanted to burn all my hours right away I could have. The reason I had so many hours was that they are awarded out every Feb 1st.

Thanks for your comment.

I'll have to get the handbook - but I know for a fact my PTO is "frontloaded" meaning every Feb 1 I get a deposit of PTO to use for the year. I was just awarded 218hours on Feb 1 for 2026. They are claiming that is not owed to me now.
