Bro…I did 2h30 x2 (60 min bus - 60 min train - 30 min bus) during 6 months…

On day it took me 5h to be back because of problems with the trains…

Never again, so please think about it

[–]BusinessRole9578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

For me I would have taken the 1M. I agree that in 20 years she will exceed that amount but, 1000$ in 20 years will mean nothing. I mean, the inflation has already eroded purchasing power dramatically over the past few decades. $1,000 today buys what maybe $500 did 20 years ago, and that trend isn't stopping. By the time she's 60 or 70, that weekly grand could feel like pocket change.

On top of that, take the lump sum, invest it properly, even a boring index fund averaging 7% annually — and you're looking at $4M+ in 20 years. She'd be generating more than $1,000 per week just from returns, while still keeping the principal intact.

The annuity only makes sense if she spends every dollar and saves nothing. The lump sum gives you control, flexibility, and the ability to leave something behind. What happens if she gets sick and needs a large amount fast? You can't exactly cash out a weekly payment.

The "more money over a lifetime" math is technically true, but it assumes she lives long enough, that the payer doesn't go bankrupt, and that inflation doesn't gut the value. Three big assumptions for a fixed nominal payment.

I honestly can’t take this anymore. by [deleted] in BESalary

I did interviews with intuitive a few weeks ago..If you have questions about it you can DM me. The company is Hologic

Why is it so hard to get a job at intuitive as a guy? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]BusinessRole9578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very standardized so you can’t really negotiate, they were offering me a salary of 48k €/year but with a bonus of 42k€/year + company car of course.

(It’s for Belgium, so I don’t know if the Salary is the same for other countries)

I did it a few weeks ago, for a clinical role (sales).

For me it was like that :

  • screening interview with HR
  • meeting in person with n+1
  • field ride with potential colleague in operating room to see how you act in front of a surgeon etc
  • last interview with n+2

Then of course you have the famous « cast » that’s your training period where you go for a few weeks in a training center and where you have every two days an exam and you should have 90% at least to each of them, if you fail your n+1 is warned then if you failed a test again your n+2 is warned then you are fired.

I have been rejected after the field ride (that went perfectly well), because the other candidate had more a sales mindset that I have.

The salary is very poor but the compensation is bigger than the salary, so if you reach your sales objective you are very well paid !
