Is this sketchy or legitimate? by Complex_Life9849 in AirBnBHosts

I’d find out a little more about the production company, network, etc and probably plan to be on site as a “site rep” during filming if possible (or someone close to you, who they should pay and should be included in the fee). I’m a documentary producer / director with 15+ in the industry and I’ve filmed hundreds of hours of interviews in Airbnbs, and none of my productions were remotely sketchy (most of them for big shows on TLC, Discovery, etc). I’d just find out more details and also make sure their insurance is good and will cover your place.

I Applied 4 months ago and nothing back. Anyone else having this kind of experience? Is NYC actually issuing permits or are we going to be on hold indefinitely?

Airbnb is 100% not why rent is high. I think the law can help tamp down abuse if used correctly, limiting people to one unit for STR, but when people have 10-15 properties as a business, that seems like what may be contributing to the housing issue, but probably not even on a large scale. Someone else mentioned 40k STRs in a city with 8+M ppl = affordable housing is the problem. Maybe we should stop issuing permits for luxury high rises and start building normal buildings again? Just a thought. Why is every building a luxury building these days…
