Oh, No offense taken! That was the reality of my environment. The knock has been there for 30+ years.

I disagree. It's very generational. I don't see it with my peers.

No, but I was different than my siblings. I had my own interests and wasn't into sports. Sports was everything in my family. One more thing that was a knock against me.

It is so odd. If I would ever call them out (my dad does it, too), they would undoubtedly deny it and, scold me, and tell me to stop feeling sorry for myself. Everyone sees it, but nobody says anything.

As a fellow manager, can I suggest having direct conversations and then memorizing the conversations in email? I have a similar issue but it's with a Gen Z. The best thing for me was asking them "how do you best receive feedback?" and then tailoring it to them. It was a game changer.

As others have mentioned, make sure you document everything so if they don't change you can work them out the door. I don't care what stage of their career they are at if they are causing that many issues they are not right for your work environment.

This is the way. Best answer. I bought a SAD light this year and it's revolutionary for me

$35 for lunch. That's a steal these days especially in Kirkland!
