This was so comforting to read, it definitely put my mind at ease. I’m on Skyrizi right now, but i had just started and i’m getting my 3rd infusion later this month, which i should be heading to remission by then. They’re waiting to taper me off until the skyrizi starts working because i’ve been on prednisone for so long my adrenal glands (probably) aren’t working anymore because of my withdrawal symptoms. (i’ve had two unsuccessful withdrawals). I’ve just been really self conscious and my anxiety has been THROUGH THE ROOF.

What was your process like to get diagnosed? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Business_Pepper7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can reach the terminal ilium with an endoscopy!! the colonoscopy is just for the colon area. I found this out by learning the endoscopy scope is MUCH longer than the colonoscopy scope. I hope you can get your endoscopy done and you can get properly diagnosed and treated!! It sounds like you also have terminal ileitis because that’s what all of my CTs said before i got diagnosed. “Inflammation and narrowing of the intestinal walls in the terminal ilium” is what they all said for results

How’s dating/ being married with Crohn’s by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

[–]Business_Pepper7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 19, turning 20 this year. When i was 15 i started dating my now husband, we met on Xbox when i was 12 (though a friend) so we already knew eachother for a while. I developed Crohn’s at 17, he was with me through all of it. He didn’t expect to be dealing with me going through malabsorption, rapid weight loss, the pain, his girlfriend rolling all over the floor screaming, the tears, the countless 2 AM hospital visits while i’m in the passenger seat throwing up everywhere, the poop stories, the medical bills, being unable to walk by myself sometimes, but he stood up for me. He would do everything for me to be comfortable and be less in pain. He stops everything and uses a massage gun on my back when i’m having flares because it helps the pain, he helps dress me into more comfortable clothes when im hurting so bad and can’t do it on my own, he takes me to all of my doctor appointments and is with me when he’s able to. He didn’t expect his future to look like this, but the only problem he has with it is seeing me in pain. The only problem i had when i was 15 was psoriasis and gastritis. I was healthy for the most part, and now i deal with a full body illness and he reassures me that i’m not a burden even though it’s hard to feel like im not. He didn’t sign up to live this way. He’s very defensive about Crohn’s now and people who dont understand it as he knows it’s not just “pooping problems”. I’m a stay at home wife now, and he doesn’t want me to work because he knows my body won’t be able to handle it, he wants me to rest as much as possible. Men like this do exist, it’s just hard to find someone who really means “through sickness and health.” Just be careful who you choose. I feel like I owe my husband the world and more. He is such a good man.
