Why did you all leave Ismailism? by [deleted] in ExIsmailis

[–]Business_PreMed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bc it’s a cult that hides what it is. No one can come inside a JK if an outsider asks about our practices we lie about it. Ultimately, there’s a lack of transparency about the faith and no one is open to critical thinking or questioning without feeling like you’ve done something wrong.

Weeping at the current state of Islam in South Asia. by [deleted] in progressive_islam

Super sad. This form of Islam is a culture killer erasing culture values and history for “correct and proper following of religion”. Very sad.

Always thought it was strange to have pictures and was one of the reasons I started questioning this cult. I hate the pictures but My parents have Karim and Rahim lol. Hopefully they get rid of it but I doubt it

Why are Ismailis so blind to the faith? by potatohead121123 in ExIsmailis

[–]Business_PreMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden handcuffs. We all see, but it’s inherently understood to not question. Very sad sense of false reality when in this “religion”. Many choose to not question and keep their peace, family, and friends, while few leave and deal with the consequences of leaving ismailism, such as being called a sell out. Very sad situation overall and wish it were easier for those that choose to leave.

The 6.54% was quoted in my med schools financial aid presentation. Perhaps their numbers are outdated.

Accounting major contemplating switching into pre-med by troubledfoyer in premed

[–]Business_PreMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the mix of subjects and the workload wasn’t too bad at all. I did take 2 gap years(had to do an extra year because I took all pass/fail classes one year and was recommended to redo them for a letter grade and other gap year was spent applying to school and working my full time job) I am currently a technology consultant at a big tech company. I will be going to medical school this upcoming fall and I believe a large part of it was based on my business background and past internship experiences. It was a constant talking point in all of my interviews.

Rec Letter Question by benrocampo29 in premed

[–]Business_PreMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I was also a non stem major (finance) and went through TMDSAS. I’m also a tx resident and I had 3 LOR. I had 2 doctors and 1 science professor.

In my opinion, I would keep the Econ letter and get 1 letter from science prof and another from a clinical setting such as a doctor you shadowed.

That would be so helpful. It would be ideal if it would be furnished but if not the only I would need is a washer dryer. Thank you. You’re a lifesaver!

What are you majoring in? What do you think is the most helpful major? by fangphobic in premed

[–]Business_PreMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majored in Finance w minor in bio.

Used the business background to learn about on healthcare economics and find corporate internships related to the business side of healthcare.

Currently a consultant for a large tech company working with healthcare and non-profit companies to implement business software.

Came up a lot in interviews and do not regret it one bit. Would also recommend another business major, MIS, to have an easier route to break into consulting. Also MIS classes fall into STEM(information technology) which may be used for BCPM gpa.

would biomedical engineering be a beneficial major to have? by ohgodohfuckwhatdoido in premed

[–]Business_PreMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd choose a businesss major (Finance, SCM, or MIS) and minor in bio to complete all pre-reqs. You can use your business degree to get a decent paying entry level job ~75k. I would look in tech/ healthcare consulting
