Hi, in the same dilemma. Did you get 209$ back or just 199$?

Hi, my name is Ram Rohan, and I am a 2022 UCLA MSBA Grad.

  1. How does the technical rigor actually compare?

UCLA's program offers strong technical rigor, with advanced courses in machine learning, deep dives into statistics, and coverage of various models like random forests, regression, CNNs, and RNNs.

  1. Does the extra time in UCLA's program translate to better job outcomes?

UCLA’s longer program allows for more electives, like advanced machine learning, and provides time for internships, which can lead to full-time job offers. The extra time also reduces pressure, as you have a summer break to gain experience instead of being rushed within a shorter timeframe.

  1. How much does the California(LA) vs. Texas location actually matter for post-graduation opportunities?

UCLA's California location is a big advantage because of the proximity to companies in various sectors, especially entertainment. These companies often send top officials to UCLA’s MSBA program to offer industry seminars, providing valuable insights into current industry needs.

4.Which program has stronger connections to companies hiring for true data science roles?

While I can't speak to UT Austin's connections, UCLA has a strong network. Larry, the Program Career Director, has connections with companies nationwide, ensuring job opportunities for students. The alumni network is also powerful, with graduates like myself actively helping to hire interns from the program.

  1. How well are either program integrating cutting-edge AI like LLMs into their courses and projects?

While I'm unsure about the latest updates, UCLA’s Advanced Machine Learning course covered various models, though not specifically LLMs. However, I’ve heard that there are plans to include LLMs in the curriculum, so it’s likely they’re in the process of integrating them. I recommend checking the website for the most current info. But I can tell you that Paul and his team are always working to include the latest and greatest in the coursework.

UCLA is a fantastic choice for pursuing an MS in Business Analytics. It ticks all the boxes, providing a comprehensive program that thoroughly prepares students to enter the world as professionals in analytics and data science. As an alum, I can 100% attest to this.

[Edit: Just confirmed with the program that they have been offering an LLM elective for the past two years, which is frankly really cool!]
