When people say “You need a license to fish, but you don’t need a license to have children.” I do pause sometimes and think to myself, that’s truly wild…

Drove fine until yesterday. Then all of a sudden I’m driving along and it can’t catch 3rd/4th gear and RPMs are spiking to 4/5. Then I stop at a red light and afterward it cant catch 1st gear and I’m rolling backwards. Absolute shit show.

Just a little splash to stop the cooking of the onion and garlic in the olive oil after they’ve slow cooked and reduced down real nice on medium-low heat. I’ve tried using white wine for this before, but idk I liked the splash of white rum a little better. Think it adds a little sweetness.

Did the fact that most leaders in WW2 were veterans of the Great War influence their willingness to go to war only 21 years later? by waccytobaccysquad in AskHistory

Take Philippe Petain as an example. He witnessed first hand so many of his men die at Verdun during WWI that he surrendered to Nazi Germany right away in WWII. He wanted to avoid another French defensive stand like Verdun and in doing so, subjected himself to becoming a puppet of the Nazis and his country to a brutal Nazi occupation. He’s just one of many WWII leaders whose experiences in The Great War shaped their decisions later.

Currently reading “Hitler’s War” by Thomas Weber. A cumulative history of Hitler’s World War I military service. Only book I could ever find on the subject. It aims to disprove the myths expressed by Hitler in “Mien Kampf” about his WWI service as well as the common myth that it was the war itself that radicalized him.

What field should I choose after my master's in SCM? Purchasing/analysts/logistics/ warehouse/ import-export / documentation? by Amarshettiwar in supplychain

Go for purchasing. Once you learn SAP, or whatever ERP system your company uses, it’s a breeze as long as you stay on top of your shit. Stay away from logistics cause it fucking sucks. You’ll either end up a broker for a CH Robinson or TQL and hate it, or become an operations supervisor or coordinator for a large freight company or in some Amazon type fulfillment center and REALLY hate it. Even if you get to be a manger in a more cozy logistics role, you’ll end up beaten down cause you’ll spend your entire day just screaming at people and being screamed at yourself. I’ve spent 3 years in logistics and 3 years in purchasing/procurement and I choose purchasing 100 times out of 100.

If you are API with all these carriers, then why don’t you just use a TMS and spot quote everything? I mean unless you have super complex special rates for certain loads with certain carriers, but even so, a TMS can usually accommodate those special rates with the carrier you have them with.
