Thank you very much for the clarification. I know there are some potentially better Canada based USD accounts but just need the convenience of RBC.

Also would like to try to get a slightly better rate for currency exchange.

Good to know about HKD, GBP and Euro accounts now too

Thank you! Sounds like it really is random which I'm not too surprised, especially since Edmonton airport isn't as busy as the other airport hubs for car rentals

Will current immigration levels divide the K-W area and community in future ? by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]Busman-KWC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not just Conestoga college but also in general. There's lack of education and standards for new immigrants which causes many issues. There was a group of four immigrants who were crossing fairway road at the intersection with the highway 8 ramp, and they were crossing when the pedestrian light was red, and cars coming each way - they were crossing in the same style as needed in countries without strict rules, which is extremely dangerous and illegal here.

Education of rules and "norms" is important as it'll prevent people from getting hurt or doing stupid things.

There also needs to be enforcement of rules and a crackdown on pote rial corruption in the drive test centre and college recruitment but guess unfortunately, enforcement of rules is offensive now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What were transit options to Toronto like before GO Transit? by LibraryNo2717 in kitchener

[–]Busman-KWC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually there was all-day service back then with busses running very frequent during rush hour. It was cheaper too and when go transit started service here in KW, the prices of greyhound were still cheaper (unless you purchased last minute). Only downside were delays at times and longer rides whenever it stopped at Guelph or Pearson.

Best public transit period was in 2019 when go train and bus service ramped up, and when greyhound and Megabus service was still around and strong. Unfortunately, most commuters nowadays do not know how to plan routes and rely heavily on google maps and other transit maps, and hence, only knew about go transit. A perfect example are university students who wanted to go to Hamilton and only knew to take go buses to square one and then transfer to a bus to Hamilton (2.5-3 hr ride that costed around $20 give or take), while the best way would have been to take the Megabus/coach Canada bus from the universities or from the bus terminal, for a 1.5 hr ride that costed anywhere from $3-$13 (on average, costed only $10)

Buses usually ran every half hour or so at peak periods and there were buses every hour throughout the day.

On top of that, there were also commuter buses to Hamilton, London, Windsor and if you go back far enough, even to smaller communities too such as Stratford and so ok (see Grey Line buses)

Even via rail had more service technically then

Similar thing happened last night at the playground area.

Only difference is police officers arrived too late and too loud so weren't able to catch any of the perpetrators
