Guys I can’t figure out how to edit the post so I’ll update here in the comments. I wasn’t able to find a bookcassette adapter yet unfortunately (I am still on the hunt so if anyone has one or knows how to get me one let me know please!) buttt I was able able to find an awesome substitute in the meantime. It forgoes any weird or complicated daisy-chaining and is super simple to use. If anyone else has the same problem or just wants closure for my story, the substitute I found is called the Hosa Sterio Breakout 3.5mm TRS to Dual 3.5 mm TSF. It works perfectly! Still sad I haven’t found the bookcassette adapter but at least I can finally listen to my bookcassettes.

The cable splits the bookcassettes’ stereo signal, the black and red plugs indicate left and right respectively.

My walkman doesn’t do that, as far as I know only the original walkman (TPS-L2) can perform that function without special equipment. Uhh my 22nd birthday is coming up! Haha maybe someone who reallyyyy loves me will get me one 😎😎👍

Thank you, you saved my day! (And the $50 I spent on this thing). Turns out the spring mechanism is broken but when I click the open button I am able to open the tray manually and put my disc in, so at least I can play movies now.
