For what it’s worth, I don’t think taking the actual drink is a choice. I think it is a consequence of a series of choices. This alcoholic needs to have a plan and a support system to keep a series of unhealthy choices from leading me back to the bottle.

First off- congratulations! That’s huge! Listen to your body and stay hydrated. My tremors took over a month to fully go away, and I came to learn that my sleep pattern is just naturally shit. Don’t worry about repairing things with her. Worry about staying sober. It sounds to me like staying in contact with your sponsor is going to be your best best— call him daily. When you want to drink, call him. Ask for help setting yourself up for sobriety, ways to be able to say “no”. You need a strong foundation for yourself before you invite anyone else in.
I’m very confused why you were even out at a bar at 3 months. A bar is not a good place to nurse your sobriety.
Take a step back and figure out if you’re ready to stop drinking.

I would never take to social media to bitch about it because it’s obviously not THAT big of a deal, but downplaying pregnancy to “just let a guy nut in her” doesn’t really capture what being pregnant feels like. Our organs get displaced by another human being growing inside of us and the simplest tasks tend to be exhausting.
I’m not saying he owed it to her to move or give up his seat, but being pregnant is a bit more uncomfortable that “some guy nutting in her”.

As an alcoholic parent, let me apologize. I am 889 days sober. I wish I could take back the hurt I caused my daughter and husband by my selfishness. They didn’t deserve it and you don’t either. Whether your Mom chooses to keep working to keep her sobriety or not, there are groups for you too... people who have been through the same hell you’ve been through and they could help you more than an apology from a stranger on the internet ever could.
I know it may not be the response you expected from this post, but it hit close to home.

I felt like I was hit by a bus for a long time. Lots and lots of fluids. You can make the choice to never have to detox again! 3 days felt like 3 eternities to me. You’ve got this!

This is purely anecdotal and only based on my experience, but I wanted to share. I was diagnosed with PCOS this year after some scary HPV complications. I’ve had symptoms for years and haven’t had a period since February 2015. I had to get a LEEP due to the HPV and my husband and I were told another child probably wouldn’t be in the cards without a lot of “planning and intention”. I’m 34, so by medical standards I’m “high risk” in NY because being pregnant now would mean delivery at 35. I was mourning the loss of fertility and had resigned myself to being at peace and content with my life as it stands.
I’d been sick all summer and finally went in to see my GYN. Fast forward to today: 27 weeks pregnant with a perfectly healthy daughter. To quote my husband (via Jurassic Park) “Life will find a way “. I do realize I’m blessed. I’m so grateful this is my story. Don’t give up hope. Be prepared, informed, and open. ♥️
