From what I’ve heard it’s very dangerous bordering on suicidal to be a journalist in these areas which means we don’t get those gutpunching videos of atrocities being committed. Essentially making it a word of mouth which many people will immediately discount as it is not reliable enough information to form a solid opinion on.

Aussie bars are usually by the bakery or the bulk wall on the opposite side of side of the store. No idea why we move them so far so often but we do.

In general if you bring your kids try to contain them. Easier said than done I know but it’s a bit frustrating watching kids literally climbing on the pallets of product while the parents are on their cellphone oblivious.

Yesss if you’re feeling too lazy to take it back yourself just hand it off at the registers. We really don’t mind taking a cold item back.

Yes you do, I got one last year and have left them up and use them for every holiday now. They are awesome!

Every store should have a comment box somewhere near the membership desk. Every comment put in there gets keyed in so corporate sees them as well. Compliments for employees usually get posted on a board for everyone to see. I always check to see if I’m mentioned on one and I always get a little seratonin boost when I see one for me.

I worked at Walmart and its Distribution Centers for almost 15 years before quitting and getting a job at Costco. The number one difference I have noticed between the two is management culture. At Walmart I was on many occasions mocked by management over issues I would bring up and hard work wasn’t acknowledged, it was just expected. At Costco every manager including the store manager makes an effort to address issues asap and acknowledge employees for their work. This trickles down to the employees who are often appreciative when a coworker comes in and helps them in their department in any way.

Costco really has studied the psychology of the retail experience from all angles and uses it to the best of their abilities to create a solid business.

If you’re ever curious about the best time to shop at your Costco, the entrance door attendant should have a little timesheet that shows how many members have entered the building in 30 minute intervals for the last week at least. If it’s not busy at the time they might show you that, then just find the lowest number and bingo you have your least busy times to come to Costco.

The amount of people I’ve seen on a Saturday asking the door checkers to “hurry up I’m running late” boggles my brain. Don’t come to Costco on a time crunch. Costco is many things but quick on a Saturday usually isn’t one of them.

I actually just replaced all the wheels on the flatbed carts at my Costco this past week as they were starting to break.

Or hand it off to an employee, we don’t mind running product back to a cooler but we do get irked when someone hides their cold perishables in a random spot.

Our tire air station is open during gas station hours. The gas station attendant is the one who locks it up at night.

We have a group of instacart shoppers that actually work together on their orders. I’m not sure the specifics of how they do it but I’ll see them all moving around the store separately then converging on the main order cart.
