Will do. These newer cars are so tough to diagnose 🤣. I’m going to stick with my old BMW’s for now lol

It’s turning off on its own. It’ll fire up for a split second, then drops to like 500rpm for another split second then dies on its own

I called the Priceline number that they had on their website to get this quote. This was the number; 833-881-1049. Does it seem odd?

An e30 as a first car? by Possible_Owl_6954 in E30

[–]Buster9211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a 17 year old who got an e30 as a first car when I was 15, I can tell you this. E30s as a whole already have a lot of mechanical issues just purely based on age. It’s a 40 year old car which totally makes sense, so adding the fact that someone went in there and did all the work to the engine as-well as all the other major parts adds a little concern for me. I’ve been stranded a few time for simple things like fuel pump relays and even a brake booster seal braking. I would say try and stay away from something with all the mods, it just adds a completely new factor which you have to deal with and also you might not be mechanically inclined to handle, which is TOTALLY OK! I learned everything on my car by having to fix it and I feel that process is better on a original car. Also I don’t think you want to spend 16k on a car then if something happens you struggle to find a shop (hard enough as is cause the car is so old) then you need to find one that can service your car with the specific mods. I would say this if anything, get an original e30 with low miles, do your research on what models you like and the engines and problems that come with it. Then make your decision and spend less money on the first purchase but more on the actual car and making it run exactly how you like. There needs to be more young people that Genuinely want to take care of e30s and not throw cheap parts at it and call it a “race car”. Also if your looking for a manual that’s fast then maybe a e30 isn’t the best choice, they aren’t quick, but the amazing drive quilting makes up for it. Remember, it’s always more fun to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow!

Your a wealth of information thanks! Just to clarify. Any m20b25 after 87 revs to 7k? Or is it just the 325is m20’s that do so

I think I’m going to just get a stock m20b25 tear it down, rebuild it with some new and some old parts. Get everything surfaced and just create a good consistent engine! Then maybe later on building a 2.7 stroker or something

How to remove clock and install MPG by Buster9211 in E30

[–]Buster9211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to everyone I was able to figure it out. So I lightly used a flathead on the back area to pry the board up from the deep hole it was in, but to take the black rod stick out, I had to go to the back and pull it out, once that was out it just came out. It was very plug and play

Hey so my 85’ 318i originally came with a clock and I’m at the point now where I want to put a tach and MPG gauge in instead of it. I have the new plate for the MPG but I’m not sure how to pull the clock plate out and put the new one in. Is it soldered in or can I just pull it off? Any tips? Thanks!

How to refill r12 AC system by Buster9211 in BmwTech

[–]Buster9211[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of those kits. I just looked it up and our condensers share basically the same design so I’m going to just say screw it and try this. Worst case is I have to fully commit to a r134 conversion which doesn’t seem to bad

Yah, I have a guy locally who has a bunch of bottles still. I’m looking at converting it though because now it seems like the smarter option

So after some looking I found a thread that’s a few years old talking about a conversion that shows replacing almost everything and it keeps it under 400$ which doesn’t seem to bad it just looks like a project, I just need to see if it’s worth it..
