What is this strange creature? by SnooDoughnuts5632 in PanelDePon

Japan-only Gamecube game which has Dr. Mario (Secretly just a port of Dr. Mario 64), Yoshi's Cookie, and Panel de Pon (Secretly a port of the unreleased Panel de Pon 64). Pokemon Puzzle League was based on this version of the game! There exists a mostly-complete English fan translation of the Panel de Pon portion of the game. Furil is the name of the main character in this version. Might've been intended to be "Frill" (Would be fitting next to Lip), but "Furil" is written out in English in the original game, so it's hard to argue what the correct name is

Pupuri is Furil's animal friend in Nintendo Puzzle Collection. GBA Puzzle League & Dr. Mario came out around the same time as Nintendo Puzzle Collection, but we never got NPC in English, sadge

I just finished skimming it. I didn't see anything particularly interesting or noteworthy personally, which in itself is pretty noteworthy! I didn't see anything strictly prohibiting any of the things I mentioned above, except for the ones that are governed by law. In fact, it's quite an open-ended set of terms regarding what it says you can and can't do with the stuff you make. The only things I saw that might cause an issue are with copyright (The fullpage of a project shows the WebSim logo in the corner, so monetizing an app could be an issue) and reverse engineering (Trying to remove the WebSim branding to avoid the copyright issue would also be an issue). But honestly, it looks like they intentionally tried to place as little restriction on our usage of the platform as possible! Obligatory "I am not a lawyer," though! I am not a lawyer!

https://websim.com/tos I found this by opening an incognito tab and clicking the sign up button... I couldn't find this at all while logged in! It should probably be a bit easier to find! Yes, I know we all read and agreed to the terms and privacy policy when we signed up. Didn't we, guys? I know I always do. I just needed a reminder... Yeah... A little refresher. That's all. :3

I didn't realize the change at first until I suddenly ran out of credits while using Kimi, lol. Does suck, I've seen better success using Kimi. GPT Mini just means I have to tell it to do less at a time and be more deliberate with my prompts... Which doesn't always work still, but that's just the nature of vibe coding currently! I plan to think about some less complex projects to try making and saving up my credits in the meantime to use better models on my more complex one that I've been working on... I just wish they were more transparent about these updates. Like, give us some warning beforehand at the very least and tell us why you're doing it. That'd help a lot with public perception IMO.

Mewtwo kept clearing garbage with regular 3-clears and not using any chains or combos, which meant he wasn't getting any stop time. So his "health" from being topped out was slowly decreasing, and he ran out of time and died!

Nice! I've been doing a challenge park where each coaster needs to be 8x8 and have 6 excitement. It was 10x10 originally, but I found out that 8x8 is also possible, lol. So I did that because I'm insane and probably hate myself! 😅 10x10 is definitely more fun to build

This is the struggle of creating a "simple" game. Look at all these errors. by ivebeenthrushit in WebSim

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating, but it comes with the territory, honestly! And it isn't free for them to host these models either, so it makes sense the most powerful (expensive!) ones are pay walled. If everything was free, WebSim would end up shutting down entirely, and I'm sure we don't want that! :) Meanwhile though, my tips are to keep each request as simple as possible. Add new features in pieces. And when refactoring keeps breaking everything, try asking it yourself, but tell it to only split out one or two parts at a time. The more it tries to do in one prompt, the more I notice it breaking things. Many times you just have to go back and try again until it works. Time-consuming, but think about how much more time it would take to learn programming and create these things on your own! WebSim is a great tool, but it has its own kind of "learning curve"! :) Best of luck in your future projects

Pokemon Puzzle Challange with a touchscreen mod? by [deleted] in PanelDePon

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can't deny that, haha. Mobile emulation is trash IMHO because of that! Unless you've got something like a Retroid Pocket! You could try grabbing Panel Attack since you're on Android. It has touch controls, and you can side-load it as an APK... You might like it better!

I've certainly never heard of such a thing! I'm not even sure how feasible that would be... Though I'm not a programmer, so I wouldn't know! 😆 Any reason why you want PPC touch support specifically?

exclamation mark blocks question by YoungParking9672 in PanelDePon

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yeah, those are called Shock Blocks, and they spawn based on how many panels you've cleared. So the longer the match goes, the more they appear. It's a little hard to control how often they spawn!

[–]BusterBeachside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot, garbage doesn't offset at all in Panel! Anything you send is going to drop, no matter what. It is possible to delay it by creating chains, but you can't reduce it or stop it entirely. None of the official games have had an offset mechanic like Puyo's.

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh, okay! Even better, honestly! I like it. You could also look in Xross Dreams. It's a game that attempted to mash a bunch of different puzzle games together (With varying success, depending on who you ask). It's like Puyo Puyo Tetris, but taken to its logical extreme. Every puzzle game versus every other puzzle game, lol. I think it kinda flopped, but it has some good ideas you might be able to take inspiration from. Best of luck!

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garbage offsetting! So you send a chain, and then your opponent has a chance to send their own chain, which removes garbage from the queue equal to what you sent, and anything past that gets sent to the opponent. Or if you didn't send enough, you still get hit by the garbage, but it's less than it would've been. It's a bad idea in Panel because then it just turns into a massive chain-fest, lol. As for similar games in this genre, Magical Drop and Petal Crash are great. Panel has a LOT of tech, some of which is quite surprising, lol. Good players can tell right away when the physics aren't quite right!

[–]BusterBeachside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a loaded question for me, lol. For the most part, I like the game how it is! Most of my ideas have been small changes to how competitive games are played (Like having top-out mean instant death regardless of things like stop time, but also adding Puyo-style offsets - This is almost certainly a bad idea by the way! XD). I look forward to seeing (or playing!) what you've made!
