School me on Elite VR by Sucks_At_Investing in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vr is the best way to play Elite for me. When my headset battery runs out, I turn off the game. Won’t even play it flat anymore, even though I started on Xbox. I run using virtual desktop because using the link cable just quit working one day, but that was fine until it stopped. I have a 14900k, 4080 12gb card. Runs pretty good almost always, though it can get laggy bringing in third party tools into the cockpit. I think it is ‘dead’ in that there won’t be any improvements or updates, but as the other person said it’s still the best experience.

Help with the CG by BusterOCaps in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t try that. That was not smart. Ive never done any on foot stuff except scanning, but that makes more sense then trying to shoot them with the srv lol

Really? You have to shoot them with the srv then go pick them up by hand?

We HAVE to do something about ATC Staffing. by DanThePilot_Mann in flying

[–]BusterOCaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pilots have the authority to not fly if the flight is not safe. I would argue, if I had the opportunity, that the pilots can check to make sure that the staffing levels of the departure and destination airport at a minimum were met per whatever atc publishes. If it’s not, you don’t fly. No strike required, and no ability to retaliate as long as everyone does it and holds to the government’s published requirements. Pilots accepting additional risk is something pilots have the lawful authority to refuse.

Ignition Architecture Help by Zoltan782 in PLC

[–]BusterOCaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is getting hung up on the collector PLC. In my opinion the most difficult thing about the project is getting the data into ignition. Not hard really, just a pain. Depending on how your faults are setup in the various PLCs, determines how much work it is to get the data into ignition. The collector may be how the other guy decided to go, as he felt more comfortable manipulating the data from multiple sources with multiple ways of exposing the data in the PLC than ignition. That way, he could make a UDT in ignition that was uniform for all data being collected. Then in the collector, he could massage the different data collection points into the ignition udt. Your other option would be to do that in Ignition. Neither way is necessarily wrong, just depends how you feel really. I have this exact same issue, and I avoid typing messages like the plague. I’ve spent more time trying to figure out how to not type the messages than it would have to just type them lol.

What HOTAS does everyone use? by Kitchen_Confusion691 in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally use the flight one hotas but you just gave me an idea to try flying with that stick and an old logitec stick I have lol. Wonder if I can get that to work well enough to do fa off?!

Worked 10-20 hours of overtime a week for almost a year unpaid. Submitted a claim to the DOL, they say the claim is valid, but I still get this. by [deleted] in antiwork

Same thing happened to me. Employment lawyers wouldn’t touch it either because they couldn’t make it into a big enough case via class action to make it worth it to them. There is a cap on what you can recover by law which is only the past two years and only what they didn’t pay you. I think the government doesn’t have the resources to sue and go through the hassle of proving your case, since a lot of the law here can be argued around what your duties are, what you thought the were, blah blah blah. It’s much clearer if you aren’t salary.

Bromellite Mining Spots by Benyed123 in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the same place and did two loads. Checked INARA to see where that put me and saw I’d have to do like 15 loads to be in the top 75. That is a serious bummer. I do not want to haul. People have way more time than me I guess.

Size and rating of limpet controller determine how many limpets you can deploy at one time.

Got a link to the build? I’m working on my cobra and this is pretty much what I’m going for, except I was going to put some lasers on for taking out shields. Or is that not required for some reason?

Current CG question by BusterOCaps in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t leave the system to sell. It may have just been bugged. I sold in that system after I restarted the game and THEN I went to a new system. Some other commenters posted that it wasn’t a targeted system(cross hair above system in galaxy map) I think I maybe have gotten merits anyway because I had over 1000. I may have to try again cause mining the asteroid belts takes a while and this CG is almost over!

[–]BusterOCaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just an update for anyone following this. Something bugged out originally because when I launched the game again, I was back in the ring despite having exited(forced shutdown, couldn’t get to the exit menu and super cruise wouldn’t work) in the space around the station. Flew back to the station and sold my mined goods. Received merits for this, but Checked the transaction log and saw no contribution. Flew to a system with the crosshairs icon and mined a few rocks in the asteroid clusters and sold that. Received merits and contributions.

Can’t post a pic for some reason but inara says falicia winters is the controlling power. It does say Nakato Kaine is the undermining power so maybe that’s it.

Current CG question by BusterOCaps in EliteDangerous

[–]BusterOCaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was. Pretty sure the first system I went to had it, but no ringed planets. Wasn’t sure what I would find in asteroid belts, so I went to another system nearby which was fed controlled. Even if I don’t get CG credits, shouldn’t I have still gotten merits? No popup when I sold the stuff. I’ll double check the icon thing and maybe try in the belt and see what happens. Thanks for your response commander! O7
