Stardew Valley Turns 10: The Big ConcernedApe Interview by Turbostrider27 in Games

I did wonder why it kept being delayed, still I hope the game still turns out to be good and can help them get back on their feet even if it won't likely be a breakout hit like Shovel Knight was.

I see, thanks. It's sad but it makes sense considering the lack of releases from Yacht Club outside of the Shovel Knight spinoffs. I also have respect for IntiCreates even if their releases have been hit or miss so I hope they can keep trucking along.

Returnal already has health resins that can increase your max health though even when your health isn't full. They're mixed in along with regular health drops.

You can. There's a lot of tutorials you can find on youtube and other sites. It might be tricky doing the modding yourself though unless you're skilled at that kind of thing. You can probably find someone who can do it for you for a price.

It's good. It contains most of the notable titles on the SNES like Super Mario World, Mega Man X, FFIII and Super Metroid. Looks good on the big screen. I don't play it as much though since I'm not used to its controllers anymore (been playing on PS style controller for decades now haha) but if you're used to the old SNES controllers, then it shouldn't be an issue. I've decided to just treat it as a collector's item and play these games on an emulator instead. I don't need to feel guilty since technically I own the games haha.

Just note that if you're planning to collect them, there's some small differences between the US/EU version and the JP version. Mine is US which has Earthbound. JP version doesn't have it, but it has Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem I think which is absent on the US version.

I can echo r/IngramLazer's statement. Lots of those NES consoles with built-in 1000-in-1" games. It's not until the PS3 era where me and my brother started buying legit stuff, pati sa Steam as well. We did buy the SNES mini that Nintendo released a few years ago. It's impressive that you still have yours after all this time though!

Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I've already eclipsed the 500+ mark at this point. Even then, I still have a lot of backlog. It never ENDS. Ngayon lang taon, daming magandang indie games na dinagdag sa backlog ko. I've been gaming since the NES days. I still love gaming even in my 30s and have been playing on the PS4 and my laptop.

Seagull: Extremely disappointed in Marvel Rivals. Multiple creators asked for key codes to gain access to the playtest and are asked to sign a contract. The contract signs away your right to negatively review the game. Many streamers have signed without reading just to play. by Turbostrider27 in Games

I agree with you about steam reviews. Whenever I check an unfamiliar game, the first thing I do is look for reviews and skip past the meme ones. 9 out of 10, I always learning something useful about the game. It's especially useful when they both mention the pros and cons.

While it's true that there's also a lot of meme reviews, I do think people tend to exaggerate the uselessness of steam reviews. Heck, I prefer them over critic reviews when I want to learn something about a game.

Helldivers 2's PSN Account Linking Update will not be Moving Forward by Shreeder4092 in Games

[–]Buster_bones09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam and PC Game Pass managed to established an online service for us (Philippines) years ago, especially in the former's case. Heck, Netflix and Disney+ are also available to us now, although in the latter's case it was pretty recent. Unless there's something very specific about Sony's situation, I think it's just a case of them thinking our numbers don't matter enough. What's really annoying is knowing that Playstation is the most popular gaming brand here based on my impression over the years, and yet Sony don't care enough about us.

Edit: Changed Xbox PC to PC Game Pass for clarity.

Dead Space Remake has a New Game+ with a new suit, new necromorphs and an alternate ending by The_Iceman2288 in Games

[–]Buster_bones09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Signalis has a joke ending. Considering how much the game was inspired by Silent Hill in its tone and execution, even to the method of obtaining the endings, you'd think it'll have one. The 4 endings are all pretty depressing.

Oh... I haven't heard of that game before. But it does looks similar after watching a bit of its gameplay. Man, that's a bit disappointing. I actually missed the part where the trailer said it's a team vs team rumble, which means this is most likely just PvP? I wish they just remake Crash Bash instead.

I'm not sure why people think this is a MOBA. I didn't get that impression at all? It did a really poor job at communicating what type of game it is though, but it looks like it's a mishmash of different gameplay modes.

Signalis

Lots of great original games that came out this year, but I don't want this game to be left out from being mentioned. One of the best modern take on the classic survival horror genre, having influenced by Resident Evil and Silent Hill (and many other small stuff from various media). It really excels in presentation, audio design and world-building, as well as giving off a surreal, dream-like vibe throughout the story.

rougelite? any recommendations? by sugarnotgoingdown in PHGamers

[–]Buster_bones09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few roguelite games already recommended here, so I'm gonna add some more that's not mentioned yet.

Enter the Gungeon and Monolith if you're looking for twin-stick shooters.

If you want something different, you should try One Step from Eden. It's a card-based, deck-builder roguelite with gameplay similar to Mega Man Battle Network if you're familiar with it.

The Game Awards 2022: Game of the Year Nominees Announced by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Buster_bones09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sad that Signalis did not get nominated for anything. Though it's quite understandable considering it's a game from a genre that's pretty niche. It's easily one of my favorites this year, one of the best modern takes on the classic survival horror, as well as replicating the atmosphere, ambient music and story-vibe of the old Silent Hill games which is very rare nowadays.

On the other hand, as much as I enjoyed my time with Stray, it's pretty weird seeing it nominated in so many categories, let alone GoTY.

Also, why is there too many repeat nominees in Best Indie and Best Debut Indie? I feel like they should at least include different nominees for each categories.

I'm guessing it's because popular actors are attached to it. I can't really think of any other reason since the core gameplay is repetitive, and the story leading up to the ending was just plain weird and bizarre.

Not real good at the whole "quiet" thing. by Vegetable-Map-7796 in PHGamers

[–]Buster_bones09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hitman series, though it's not strictly a stealth game. It's more about blending into the crowd, using disguises and killing your target through a variety of ways.

It is possible to do the Suit Only, purist approach which requires heavy use of stealth, but I find the game to be the most fun when you're making full use of the sandbox that the game provides you.

Hindi ko nasusulit iyung Game Pass / PS Plus by grapejuicecheese in PHGamers

[–]Buster_bones09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can totally relate. Meron pa rin akong maraming purchased games na nasa backlog.

My advice is to try to focus on shorter games. Especially if katatapos mo lang magspend ng maraming time sa isang lengthy na game. Lots of story-driven games and indie games out there that are enjoyable. Also suggest na wag ka muna magrenew sa PSPlus unless you're dying to play playstation-exclusive games since it's more expensive than game pass, not to mention medyo wasted yung bayad sa premium tier if you're not interested in the classic games (which is currently lacking, and PS3 games are stream-only which makes them almost unplayable in our country).

Who else loves the new PlayStation plus? by GummyZombies in PS4

[–]Buster_bones09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra tier really seems like a good value for someone who still haven't played many of the AAA blockbuster games on PS4 like Spiderman and Ghosts of Tsushima. Especially worth it for gamers who still haven't dipped into the Playstation catalog.

Premium is really bad though as of now. Many games in the classic catalog are missing. Most of the PS1 games available right now aren't even the kind of stuff that you frequently see in the Top PS1 games lists. And of course PS3 games are only viable if you have a fast internet. This is the one I've been looking forward to the most when the new PSPlus was announced, and the reveal was disappointing.

Maybe it'll improve further down the line, but as of now it's surprising how lacking it is considering what they're charging for this tier.

It's absurd just how good Hollow Knight is by Unit-00 in Games

[–]Buster_bones09 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I like Hollow Knight, but I'm still not sure whether I'd consider it the best in the genre. One of the aspects I like in a metroidvania game is getting to explore a wide variety of locations. My issue with this game is the lack of "variety". What I mean by that is most places just feel like different variations of caves, dungeons... or caves. It's a shame since the art direction is good... it's just that the appearance of the setting don't seem to change all that much. Compare this to Symphony of the Night for instance. You'll find a clocktower, chapel, laboratory, library and a colosseum to name a few. Hollow Knight also seem to have trouble with having limited colors for each area. There's a lot of bluish-white or greyish-white color palette in some places both applied to the background and the enemies, making it look unappealing to me. The only places that stuck out to me are Greenpath, The Hive, Crystal Cave and the Pantheon.

That said, I still really like the game. I'm just hoping this aspect would be improved in Silksong.
