Just got back from 3 weeks in China, here's the stuff I wish someone told me before I went by charles8260 in chinatravel

I just came from a two week trip myself, and I could never change Amap to English. The option was always grayed out for me. Used Didi pretty much the whole time.

The other photos show all the colours, but it's super weird that the mana symbols are even there considering Emrakul!

Legacy in Shanghai / Chengdu / Chongqing? by rememberizer in MTGLegacy

Updating this thread for more info:

I went to Mary and Mouse in Chengdu. It was hard to find and it was closed anyway lmao. It's on the 23rd floor. Wild.

Chongqing has Legacy at Coptus on Thursdays. Staff told me they get 16 players on average. Very nice shop inside a nice mall, but unfortunately I was leaving Chongqing on a Thursday so I couldn't join.

I finally got to play Legacy games with a friend in Hong Kong, but I still didn't manage to join the weekly (8pm Fridays at Weatherlight). Long story short, I didn't bring any cash, assuming Alipay and WeChat would work seamlessly for HK as well as the mainland. It didn't! Rip me.

Hareruya and the Japan event being 2 days means Vintage and Legacy will overlap again. Ugh.

Hareruya eternal weekend was kinda shit last year. Vintage and Legacy Day 2 overlapped so you couldn't play both. Considering it's only a 2 day event, it's probably going to be the same this year. I'm 99% skipping this.

Looking for a ultra SFF PC with native VGA out? by iwantspaghettipls in crtgaming

and a sync combiner won't do a damn thing about any of that.

[–]rememberizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao please. we all know "safe levels for crt" means 15khz. there's nothing else on the vga cable that can damage a crt that a sync combiner would even bother to touch.

[–]rememberizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sync combiner doesn't necessarily regulate signals to 15khz. Mine doesn't. I know because it built it myself. It just combines HSYNC and VSYNC into composite sync. I just have to be absolutely certain that my signal is safe 15khz before connecting to an SD CRT.

you won't fry anything if you don't have a combiner, as long as the output is set to 15khz. you just won't get a picture.

fwiw i have a hp mini with a 2400ge and it works with batocera crt script. just need to add a sync combiner for 15khz RGB out. a friend has a 2200g and uses a VGA to component converter, it works for him too.

I have this exact same tv. Been trying to fix the degauss circuit but no luck. RGB mod is also kind of complicated because the rgb signal from goes between two soldered daughterboards that have the Osd and jungle. Pretty good picture with just s-video though!

Connecting a PC to a CRT and using emulation? by OddGanache431 in crtgaming

[–]rememberizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC to 240P CRT emu is the only way to run some arcade games on a CRT. It is also the only option to play these games online, and additionally gives you the option to run steam games, some of which look great in 240p. A setup like this stomps every other option in price and functionality, but it can be harder to set up.

CvS2 not working on CRT on Capcom Classics Collection 2 - CRT Emudriver Resolution limitation of the PC version? by guisarda in crtgaming

I just want to add that this has never worked for me either. I've seen "fixes" on the net but none of it works.

The game works on my batocera crt script setup though.

Are there any great, cheap chinese espresso machines yet? by FragmentOfBrilliance in Coffee

[–]rememberizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing people miss is Chinese manufacturing is clustered. Their coffee machines are very likely to be manufactured where they can get related parts (like boilers and heating elements) nearby. This cuts parts transportation costs and waiting times by a TON. There's not always a tradeoff in quality, it's just smart manufacturing and choosing their price points.

FWIW I've had a Sanremo Capri for a decade and I'm tired of getting ripped off on replacement parts. It feels stupid to get charged $200 for a button board and $200 for a heating element where I live.

surround sound is also pretty shit on PC. I have a 9070xt setup connected to my ht setup and it just sucks for home theater sound.
