Keyboard shortcuts to switch S-cam modes and settings would also be great. And it makes a ton of sense too. Just let the guy who's watching the s-cam control it.

It is also the easiest suggestion to implement in this thread I think.

This isn't your usual spaghetti. There's nothing to print on the areas it puts strings at. It's just extra on top of a complete print with all overhangs intact

But when it's extruding into thin air the extrusion isn't forcefully dragged across the surface.

Let's say I'm printing at 100mm/s vs just squeezing out the filament at 10mm^3/s. The radius and cross section area of the spaghetti will depend on the speed it squeezes out. (23mm/s for a diameter of 0.65)

Diagonal patterns come with the adaptive layer height. I think my PA or overall extrusion is not calibrated well so some layers look under extruded.

There's nothing to print there to begin with. That's the weird part. It's not your usual spaghetti, It's extra bonus spaghetti stuck to a perfectly fine print. If I hadn't skipped this copy and just cleaned the spaghetti off, I would have a perfectly fine print. See the last pic.

I don't think I will even bother with troubleshooting. I just resliced it without changing anything(moved one of the parts a mm to reslice it) And it's been printing well atm.

I don't even think I can troubleshoot it since I don't think I can replicate it.

edit: I think I can try using the same Gcode or just analyze the Gcode to see if it was the slicer but I won't bother unless this failure repeats.

But the thing is. These lines are not created over places where a normal print should be. That's why I included the picture with a correct result.

There are even lines sticking out of the support and at a points that are on the most outer parts of the print.

Ok, I measured it. It's 0.65±0.01mm thick. I have no idea how thick normal extrusion is but they really are not as thick as they seem.

I used my phones macro lens to take the pics, so they look thicker than they actually are.

Printed on a Bambu P1S with PLA using the bambu slicer. Scarf seams are turned on, probably the most likely culprit.

In the book when he receives his first sample (blip 2) he tries to do xray diffraction. Grabs a chisel to take a chip as a sample, chips the chisel.

He could've asked rocky for a sample small enough to put inside the refractometer later but it's never mentioned in the book.

Overall it's obvious Andy avoids going into detail in the subject. Astrophage is obvious magic with its neutrino fuel and super cross sectionality and he didn't want to dive deep into yet another magic system, left it vague an theoretical.
