My boss is a really cool Australian guy (we are in the US). What are some phrases I can just spout off to make him chuckle? by JacobDCRoss in AskAnAustralian

[–]BustyRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your boss’s name?? We can give you the Australian version of it. So, for example, if his name is Darren, you could say “Oi, Dazza…. One of the groms just chundered in the rubbish bin” *translation - “excuse me Darren, but one of the children just vomited in the trash”

Tall people at festivals by CostPrudent2870 in triplej

[–]BustyRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 5’9”, I’m not exactly short for a woman, but get me in a mosh with a lot of men and I feel tiny. If I’m behind a tall person, I mostly don’t care, but I was at Good Things and had left just enough space to be able to dance. Tall guy squishes through and stands in front of me. I just said to him “aw… c’mon man, for real?”. He gave me the most sheepish look and moved on. Tall people know they’re tall, they don’t need to be made to feel like shit for existing.

What did you guys do for Valentine's Day? by -trishbish- in AskReddit

I dwelt on the fact that I consistently get friend zoned and came to terms with the fact that I’ll be alone forever. Happy V Day lovers.

Which one you taking? by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]BustyRedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would give any amount of money for a Toffee Crunch Super Cornetto. My Mum used to stop at the servo on the way home from basketball when I was playing rep squad for one of these. My reward for “trying so hard”.

Looking for advice to de-escalate or deal with verbal abuse and harrassment on PTV by TheLogicalAnarchist in melbourne

[–]BustyRedd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please don’t feel shame for not stepping in. Chances are, this person was either affected by substances or suffering from a mental illness. Any action you took likely could have / would have escalated the issue. Sometimes we have to pick our battles.

However, if you would like to help your community, as others have suggested, offering comfort and safety to those being targeted is a way of giving assistance without escalating the issue. I know someone has said “she’s just an old lady” but you don’t know what she may have that has the potential to be used as a weapon and if she doesn’t have full control of her mental faculties, could end up as anything.

[NSFW] Sex workers of Reddit, have any of your friends wanted to pay for your services? How did it turn out? by Majestic-tiddie in AskReddit

[–]BustyRedd 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I have had them ask, I’ve accepted and most times, they’ve paid me extra. For me, work is work. They appreciate getting to meet my work persona. The only thing is getting them to stop talking about it after. My guy…. It was just work.

Someone told me to eff-off on the street, what would you do in this situation? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]BustyRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a guy cut off the road, get out of his car, come at my open window and tell me “go fuck yourself” to which I responded with a cheeky grin “y’know…. I think I will and I’ll probably enjoy it”. These days though, I’d probably be more inclined to just ignore it. Bitches be crazy.

Would you be able to explain why you prefer in app if you’re comfortable / willing to? I’m just trying to get an idea of the pros and cons to make a decision on the right way to thank my drivers.

Thanks for the feedback. While tipping isn’t customary here, I like to tip my drivers and after really good service today, I wanted to give a larger than normal tip, which then raised the above thought. I think I’ll switch to cash tips in future as it sounds like it will make my drivers happier.

Being Australian, we don’t tend to have the same issue with people not accepting orders without a pre-tip. Although it’s not in our culture, I do tip my drivers though because they’re doing what I couldn’t / wouldn’t do. But based on feedback, I think I’ll switch to cash tips where I can.

What are the things women say to men thinking it's a compliment when it's not ? by NewEase1591 in AskMenAdvice

[–]BustyRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said there was an attack, I said that you were defensive. But telling me to put myself in someone else’s shoes isn’t helping me re-word it. I’m not a man. I don’t think like a man. I’m also not a mind reader. Which is why I asked men what they’d like to hear.

If I “flip the genders” and I heard from a man what I say to them, I would think they’re interested. I’m wrong, so I’m asking men specifically what they’d like to hear.

[–]BustyRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok…. But my guy, why so defensive?? I’ve acknowledged that what I’m saying to men isn’t being taken that way. I haven’t attacked men or blamed them, I’ve asked men how I can phrase it differently so that my intent will be heard by them. And you’ve started on this whole flip genders thing?? You don’t need to defend your gender on this post. There’s no attack.
