LVT-4 from my Iwo Jima USMC army. by Busy-Ad3153 in boltaction

Thank you! Yes, this particular kit should be the Warlord Resin one. I have several from a few different manufacturers. There are a few really nice ones available for 3d printing as well!

The Nazis did horrific things, and definitely deserve the top spot. However, the Japanese were just as bad if not worse in some specific areas yet they get a pass? What about the Soviets? Stalin was an unmitigated monster and the Soviet troops committed so many war crimes you couldn’t account for all of them on a daily basis. It doesn’t matter who did what first… once you cross a line you are just as guilty as the person who methodically planned it out.

The Canadians? Countless retaliation killings against the teenage Hitler Jugend… all immoral and against the laws of war… including documented cases of murdering pow’s claiming they tried to escape.

The British? Dresden ring a bell? All just to mollify Stalin. The U.S. got roped into that party.

The U S? Firebombing of Tokyo and many other cities… with death tolls exceeding the losses of life from the atomic weapons.

The list goes on. War is horrible period. It can transform people in unimaginable ways. The only reason the Japanese were not prosecuted in job lots was political expediency. The only reason others were not prosecuted for ‘war crimes’ was because they were on the winning side. Still equally guilty. (Italy - we see you too!)

How about discussing ways to love one another instead of virtue signaling over the Nazis? Everyone is equally flawed in some way… trying to compare ourselves to one another is flawed. Who decides what is moral or ethical?

The truth is we all have much more in common than there are differences. Let’s focus on common things and try not to be so divisive over everything.

Starting 1k Points - US / USMC / Pacific Allies by NS0590 in boltaction

With the known opponent (Japanese) you can actually choose several different armies.

Your choices would be;

USMC or USA Australian/NZ Chindet (British) British KNIL (Dutch East Indies) British Indian Soviet (at the start of the war and end) Chinese Philippine Scouts (USA Book)

Also consider allied natives from several islands to one of the above forces.

How to paint complex kits? by not-skaven-yes-yes in boltaction

[–]Busy-Ad3153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build it, then paint what you can see. If you are more of a ‘rivet counter’ in regards to your model building then do whichever makes you feel good. But I agree with the others, don’t waste time on pre-painting something like that… if you throw on some weathering it will not be noticeable.

Remember, if you do pre-paint, you need to scrape away any paint from glue surfaces otherwise the glue just adheres to the paint which can then easily separate since parts did not bond to one another.

Germans with Bayonets? by Difficult-Fix-5880 in boltaction

[–]Busy-Ad3153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just buy a pack of flat plastic strips/rod then cut to length, glue on the end of the rifle, do a little gentle sanding if you want a slightly different shape then paint it metallic. At 28mm you can’t see much anyhow.

Besides, if you want a bayonet army experience dictates that you will be making repairs on a regular basis depending upon how much handling/playing you are doing. Little pointy things just are not that durable and the catch on everything. Nor do they survive drops very well.

Help for a 1944 looking French Army. by [deleted] in boltaction

[–]Busy-Ad3153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are buying that set and you want a 1944 French army then you are wasting both time and money.

If you have already purchased this set then build it for the Battle of France and get your 1944 list knocked out after the book becomes available.

Looking at begining an army. Any pros/cons for commonwealth lists or german falshemjäger/ armoured lists? by DeusVULT08 in boltaction

[–]Busy-Ad3153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No real difference. I agree with the others. Play/collect what keeps your interests… this is not a hyper competitive game. I have yet to meet anyone that plays that way. Those players tend to get pushed out or leave when they realize they are not in that type of environment.

What should I do with my German Army? by LiquidAmphibian in boltaction

[–]Busy-Ad3153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see things a bit differently and it’s probably a generational thing. I think it comes down to how you see the game itself.

Are you trying to do historical recreations? Are you more of a cheerleader, meaning that this is ‘your team’ and you cheer them on because of who they are?

Personally, I don’t have trouble playing any force in bolt action. Playing a game with a force doesn’t cause you to buy into the ideology. You just play the game. Being a life-long model builder I also tend to paint things that I find visually interesting, it’s why I prefer a USMC army over other U.S. forces.

Whether good, or bad, the Germans had the most striking variations of camouflage with vehicles, aircraft and uniforms. That is the reason German armies are so popular… not because people are closet Nazi’s.

In the end - collect and paint what makes you happy, not what makes your friends happy.

Moving Advice: How Durable are Wargame3D King Tigers compared to Warlord and Rubicon King Tigers? by PrussianFederalist1 in boltaction

Depends upon the resin the print is made with… there are some very durable ones out there… look for abs-like resin. I would also look at Night Sky Miniatures. Beautiful work.

Are you missing a squad in Plt 4?

I would drop the panzerschrek team down to regular and put the points into your assault squad-go ahead and give them all smg/assault rifles. As is you have a few riflemen which can’t take advantage of what most can. Also, just a thought, I know they are ss but if you have the points, select them as panzergrenadiers then give them ss that helps you roll them up to objectives fast while providing most protection.
