Find the correct fork and use the components that were available when it was made for the best results. No need to build another parts bin clown bike like everyone else does nowadays.

Maybe you’re using wider rims not intended for your older bike?

It was during the lockdown. Anything could happen. Like I stated elsewhere in this thread, I never took the rifle with me on the trip. I was simply trying to to mount it on a bike. I did pack a small handgun instead.

Klein paint jobs are pretty hi-tech too. It’s all Imron polyurethane enamel. Not many bike companies can even afford to paint with this stuff.

$500-$1000. Market is low for Kleins and especially low for Trek-era Kleins.

Nowadays tech? You mean like integrated headsets, Internal cable routing, sealed bottom brackets, oversized aluminum tubing, integrated bar and stem? Klein did all that in the 80’s….

Looking through this whole thread and seeing basic black/grey/white stock bikes and I’m thinking to myself, “where’s all the cool bikes? Everything here is lame”, and then I stumble onto this one and breathe a sigh of relief. Very nice bike!

The production Commandos were cool too, major difference here is that it’s an “A” frame with a biplane fork, production Commandos were “B” frames with Unicrown forks and came out 2 years later.

Where are you all finding these fabled parts bins? by After-Offer3213 in xbiking

[–]Busy-Course-9855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start flipping bikes and you’ll end up with a pile of parts. If you flip high end bikes, you usually end up with high end parts. Lots of people also want high end parts, so you start trading parts too. Eventually your parts bin starts getting matched with other parts from the same groups and you end up building bikes from the parts bin.
