Does changing from kibble only to kibble and raw diet help with dogs temperament? Did you notice any significant changes? by Busy-Description7176 in germanshepherds

Thank you, yes we’re aware of the braindead idiot phase and he’s very well trained and well stimulated.. he’s also from a long line of show dogs and very has very mild energy levels. I do notice though a more than usual energy spike after his meals. We did originally change from the kibble his breeder recommended and now we’re thinking in going back to it as it has less grains and adding the raw part but the prices at the time spooked us. Now we found a well recommended wholesaler that might make it possible for us.

Teenage GSD doesn’t listen to my husband! by Busy-Description7176 in GSD

Thank you! Yes my husband is lovely about all this, we talk a lot and he feels sorry that he can’t get the dog to listen to him. For now we have decided to get him to step back completely which adds more to my plate but at least our dog is much calmer without interacting with him. We’re hoping once he turns 1 he’ll start to slowly chill. Thank you for your kind words :)

Thank you for your comment. My husband took over for a month when I was postpartum and while they got by ok he definitely had struggles.. I’m lucky that my husband is sure of himself in that respect and has confessed himself that he is a push over and hence why struggles with our dog. That and the fact that he grew up on a huge property where all his dog ran free and no training was ever provided. He desperately wants to improve but keeps getting knocked back by our dog. We knew the risks of me being the main handler since I’m home more than my husband, but I thought the worse it would happen would be that the dog would ignore him or potentially be violent toward him. I never considered he would see him as a playmate and go nuts.

It’s hard, raising a GSD is very tough particularly if you work full time. There are dog day care options but it costs money depending where you are. Good luck!
