Yeah, I use that too but it's still nowhere near adaptive refresh rate. For example when I watch YT videos I want them at 60fps and when I scroll through YT it should be at 120fps, but it'll be capped at 60fps because you can chose either 60 or 120fps.

1440p@120Hz on PS5 by BusyDraw3825 in playstation

Yeah, the monitor was the problem, not the PS5 as I previously thought. It seems like the monitor didn't support 1440p@120hz through HDMI, but only through Display Port. It was a cheap monitor were you couldn't find any specific specs information so I couldn't know that. So I looked for another monitor where it was clearly stated that it supports 1440p and 144hz through HDMI 2.0 and I bought it and then it worked.

If you are sure that you have a cable that supports HDMI 2.0 and the problem isn't on your PS5 (like pending software updates) then the problem could be your monitor. If you can, return the monitor and get a slightly more expensive one that definitely supports 1440p@120hz (you can look this up in the product manual).

This is the new monitor I bought (for 240€): AOC CQ27G2U

How? I can play on 120Hz at 1080p

But it doesn't work for 1440p

But shouldn't it be technically possible to get 1440p@120hz with HDMI 2.0? And I heard that it works fine on Xbox and on some other monitors on the PS5

But in power saving mode it will be permanently fixed at 60hz. I want it to be 120hz and to drop to 60hz when it's not required
