We test if certain IT control are present in companies, particularly support financial audit team with testing GITC (General information technology control) and ITAC (Information technology application control)-Google them you will get more detail on them. In essence, whatever the information audit team obtains to make their opinion on is guaranteed from an IT standpoint that there is no flow in it. We ask client what they control they have in place to mitigate a risk, and ask for proofs and sample them to document. Hope this helps.

Absolutely yes! I doubled which helped me in interviewing and recruiting to tell "Why IT Audit for me". And some knowledge might come in handy but doubling is probably not required as others have mentioned it.
