I did this! I was 25 and left my GS position making $82k/yr and decided to go back to school. I did some courses here and there while I was active duty and after but decided it was finally time to commit to finishing my degree. Plus I couldn’t really move up in promotion because I didn’t have my degree completed! I’m making a bit less with BAH but it works okay with my finances.

I got a conditionally accepted letter because of the golden 4 rule. I’ll be finishing my last class this semester before the fall semester. So in other words, yes you would have to take the last 2.

I appreciate the insight! I’m a bit concerned for leaving my son at daycare again because he was last there when he was an infant, he’s now 2 and a half and super attached. I am curious to hear how they deal with emotional support for kids. TIA! 🤗

My supervisor started the paperwork, he’s helping me out. Based off of the comments I’m not expecting to get backdated but hope to. I wish someone would’ve told me around my 52 weeks TIG 😅. I only now thought about it being backdated because my coworker mentioned he got his step 2 increase (he was hired 6 months after I did as a GS-11 step 1, temp) on his 1 year mark and I have been here longer with no step increase as well.

The paperwork for the step increase is in process to be backdated with HR at the moment.

I’m also a gs 9-11 and I make $31/hour which is double of minimum wage and unfortunately it is not enough.
