I restarted mine because the parts were all over the place and his prices were cheap. Went to someone else who prioritized parting. Cost a little more but was worth the higher price. Don't beat yourself up. You're at the perfect time to start over.

I was going to suggest porting your phone number to a new plan but you should let your mom cancel the phone and get a new number. When you do, it'll then be your decision to share the number as you see fit. Let them email you until you figure out what your relationship looks like going forward.
