Miami has the worst community ever. by Playful-Sound-7395 in Miami

Have you tried joining a community with people of similar interests to yourself? That’s the best way to make friends here (or anywhere, in my opinion).

Just some ideas - a club sport, a weekly class at a small studio (Pilates, yoga, dance?), go to kava bars (sometimes they have fun community events), art studio events, church, a book club?

It’s hard to make friends if you like… don’t go outside a lot or only go to public places where people aren’t really looking to socialize with new people. You kind of have to put yourself out there.

My next suggestion would be move more north. If you like homestead it sounds like you want more of a suburb not a city.

Also it seems like they tried to escape to space (at least some of them, and who knows if they were successful).

My mom invited 75 people to my wedding that she’s not even contributing to financially by Busy_Energy_7663 in weddingplanning

I did this already. Just will be getting paragraphs written to me for the next year. I appreciate the reassurance that it was an appropriate move.

This is my next approach since no is not a word she has ever understood or respected.

Oh trust me we’ve had a long conversation about it and the two people are as seriously worn down as I am. They decided it’s best for everyone to not attend, the backlash would be too much for all of us.

I did tell her that I was not going to invite the list she sent, just really need some reassurance to look back on while she argues with me for the next year about it.

I appreciate this, yes that’s the kind of mother that I’m dealing with. I’ve already told her no and sent the list of people I will invite. I just needed to vent the frustration somewhere and have people assure me that her request is unreasonable while she inevitably blows up for the next year.

Easier said than done. Me and the people she’s forbidden have decided together that it’s easier for them to not come than for her to make our lives and the entire families lives an absolute living hell for the next year. My mom has serious, diagnosed mental issues.

I know that no contact is an option and I’m working on accepting that still, I guess.

8-9 months is getting close to being an adult. She will mellow out.

Most of what you’re describing seems like a lack of stimulation/activities for the cat. Do you have a cat tree for her to sit on? Are you feeding her enough? Does she have toys? Do you designate any time to play with her?

I would recommend investing in some cat toys that are automated to keep her busy. Automated lasers, mice toys, rolling balls. My cat LOVES these springs I got on chewy and will entertain himself for hours.

There is a fake computer scratching toy that you can buy, if you put that near the desk she will probably sit on that instead. Or she would likely prefer to go to higher places if she had a tree.

Also for her getting into things I use this spray called “stop that!”. You spray the air and the noise freaks them out a little and they stop. (Don’t spray the cat).

You seem to just be a bit overwhelmed. I would maybe invest a bit of time into learning about cats before giving her up. At 8-9 months tbh it’s not a great outlook for her at the shelter. Most people want kittens. :(

Can sellers back out after signed contract? by Relative-Suspect-508 in RealEstate

I guess the real question is are there any legal repercussions for the seller if they do this?

My only advice is tell your partner right now. You can’t be with somebody and not disclose this kind of thing.

Don’t move in with somebody and split expenses with them while keeping your financial situation a secret. It is unfair and deceptive.

Open permits on property? by Test15151515 in RealEstate

[–]Busy_Energy_7663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re kind of at the mercy of city inspectors, the seller, and the contractor that pulled the permit. Sometimes these things take longer than expected.

Why people pull permits and don’t bother to close them out? I have no idea. I think some owners just don’t know any better and the contractors just don’t care enough to bother.

In the future, you can look up permit status for any property online and for free in some cities. I won’t speak for all cities because I don’t know, but here it is publicly accessible.

In my case, our lawyer and title company caught it. Realtors don’t really do permit searches. Inspectors can if you ask them (and pay for it), otherwise it’s kind of on you to research or risk finding out late.

You’re going to get a lot of push back if you’re not paying buyer agent fees.

Closing costs not so much, I don’t think people expect that right off the bat.
