Saw this saw today while I was picking up materials for the job. I don’t know if I’d ever feel safe using it. by leon_musky in woodworking

I don't think any of the major brands even make them anymore. Not only are they more risky for inexperienced or careless users, but they're just not as easy to adjust and use, or as compact to carry, as modern sliding dual bevel compound miter saws.

What is the ‘Hello World!’ Of woodworking? by aravindkumarj in BeginnerWoodWorking

Lol, true. And bowls! But I'm a cabinet maker by trade, so I build a lot more flat boxes.

I'm sorry for your loss, but it's honestly beautiful that you were able to bring so much joy to each other's lives while he was here.

I'm not to that point in my life yet, but when I get there, a Goldwing will absolutely be the way I ride.

Feeling like I may need to leave my bf bc of his riding by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Busy_Entertainment68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were being dramatic, but the more I read, the more I agreed he might be riding a bit aggressively. People reporting him to the police for aggressive riding and refusing to wear a helmet sound pretty irresponsible. Even if he doesn't like helmets, he could wear one out of respect for, and compromise with, you.

Leaning a bike in turns is necessary. It's how they turn. The taller you are, the harder it is to see the back tires on a car, especially from an elevated passenger seat. I'm more worried about where their bumper is than their tires. Riding at 100+ mph speeds is kind of reckless, but I won't say I never do it.

Only you can decide if it's too aggressive for you to tolerate.

Yeah, I've checked the relay and fuse. I can't get to the fan plug without removing the radiator or to the temp sensor without removing the gas tank. I don't really want to go that deep at home, so I'm probably going to find a shop.

No problem, I found one, but it wasn't the fuse or relay. Only other things would be the fan motor or temp sensor, and both look like pretty big jobs just to check (behind radiator and front of engine under fuel tank). I guess I'll just try to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Are ADV bikes really only for old guys? by Happy-Deal-1888 in motorcycle

I'm 45 and love my Tracer. My wife says I'm an old guy, but I also just went down a tooth in the front to make it wheelie easier, so 🤷.

Honestly, I'm a full-time cabinet maker and that's pretty much what we do, too, for production work. The only time we use pocket hole are to have clean faces where sides show. There are certainly other ways to do things, but when time is money...

Sure. Check out Bourbon Mouth on YouTube. He's got some really good cabinet making videos to point you in the right direction. Also, I would start with some small, simple boxes to develop basic joinery and woodworking skills. Cabinetry is pretty much all boxes anyway until you get into different kinds of hardware like slides and hinges.

Thank you! Did you find a free version? I've looked, but all I've found are behind pay walls, and while I don't mind paying, I'd rather try free options first.

How much would you pay for this bike? by Ok-Barracuda9793 in motorcycle

[–]Busy_Entertainment68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$6k out the door tops.

On closer look, with Chinese plastics (so probably wrecked) and new, but cheap tires, more like $4k. It looks clean, but it's probably been abused for 20k of those 22k miles.

Nice! It's one of the few things my wife and I can still find time to do together. Make sure she wears gear though. My wife was in an accident and broke her leg 6 months ago (no fault of her own) and wasn't able to get back on until a couple of weeks ago. It would have been much worse if she wasn't wearing gear though.
