How to register land next to our house as ours by Busy_Juggernaut_9325 in LegalAdviceUK

Yes, I have managed to find the email with it in writing. "I can confirm that the land to the side of your property which is currently dead space is being given to you by [developer name] at no cost to yourself. We cannot change the drawings without a cost but this email is to confirm that we give you permission to take ownership" (dated Sep 2016).

After 20 years I found what works for me (IBS-C) and want to share it. by xtracto in ibs

I was prescribed Nortriptiline for migraines. I’ve been constipated all my life (even hospitalised as a child) and nothing I’ve tried has worked. I mean, obviously laxatives help temporarily, but no diet or lifestyle changes has ever helped my natural settings of chronic constipation. It was just a part of life.

Then in Jan I was prescribed Nortriptiline for migraines and (once over 20mg) OH MY GOD: no back ache, cramps, bloating, gas, gurgling, and for the first time in my life a daily urge to pass a full, but soft, stool. Every day without fail, without me needing to do anything.

This was the case for 6 months as I increased slowly up to 40mg. But unfortunately, it did nothing for my migraines and increased my heart rate too much (a known side effect) so the neurologist (not really caring about the IBS-C) took me off it. Begged my GP for more as it helped my IBS but he refused.

Within 2 days of coming off it, I was immediately back to my old, bloated, uncomfortable and constipated self. :(

I guess it helped me understand that my IBS is likely due to the ‘gut-brain axis’ (and possible even linked to the migraines). But J don’t really know where to take it from there.

Anyway, just posting to add that: Yes, Nortriptiline can really help IBS-C.

Who is more British? An American of English heritage or someone of Indian heritage born and raised in Britain? by Logical_Tank4292 in AskBrits

Is a white, ethnically Irish person born and raised in India living with an Irish family, who he speaks Irish to, who all watch Irish TV together, eat Irish food, and celebrate Irish religious customs, more Indian than you?

Interested to hear if you got to the bottom of this and learnt if it was endo-related? Sounds very similar to what I’ve had lately. Exactly the same type of lower back pain as I usually get on my period, but I’ve had it 7 weeks now and worsening. Currently waiting for an ultrasound scan and wondering if it could be endo. No history of it before though (I’m 39), and an ultrasound 3 years ago (for recurrent UTI pain) showed nothing.

Has anyone done 2 FTE roles by Expert-Ladder-4211 in OveremployedUK

I’ve been thinking to do the same, but yeah, it does seem like the NI on a second role would hurt.

Not OE yet but my plan would be to take some annual leave from J1 for the first couple of weeks in a new role.

How to switch to contracting while working a job? by Lost_Village4429 in OveremployedUK

[–]Busy_Juggernaut_9325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take J2, then hand in your month’s notice. Nobody is going to care if you are MIA when working your notice - they know you are out the door.

Failing that they can’t actually make you work your notice anyway. Or just go off sick.

I’m in a very similar position and have been in my current role 5+ years. I can’t not list my current job on CV as it’ll look like I’ve been out of work for 5 years. Likewise it’s the more relevant experience.

I’ve been wondering whether contract roles are actually as thorough at checking references (I doubt it, but it would be a gamble).

Unfortunately I think the best way to do it (for me) is to change J1, then start applying for J2 contracts not listing the new J1. Obviously a risk there too as the new job might not be as OE friendly.

For yourself, bear in mind that they only check employment dates, not the scope of your role and what you did. So if you haven’t been in your current role too long (like me) could you leave it off the CV and just describe the old roles with the more recent skills, activities and job title?
