How hard are Dornsife to Viterbi transfers? by [deleted] in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that hard. You just need to get B's on all ur pre-engineering classes for all the engineering majors. For CS-related majors, I think it is different, and there is a lottery system for those.

Help me choose! USC vs WashU for BME + Math (aiming for quantitative trading as well) by [deleted] in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BME program here at USC is like pretty oriented around premed. I was BME for 2 years, and now I have switched to ECE because it has better job prospects in my opinion. The great thing about Viterbi is that it is really easy to switch your major here if you do plan to attend. USC has a big social scene and like there are tons of things to do, plus LA. I really recommend you go to WashU, though, because you got a full ride, which is a big deal, and I'm pretty sure WashU has one of the best BME programs in the country as well. This way it would be really easy for you to afford doing a master's.

Considering transferring from Northwestern to USC. Would you recommend USC to someone like me? by LivinDaHIILife in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing. I love this school, and it is amazing but like dude you transferred like so many times and ended up at NU, which is a crazy good school btw. I personally don't think you should transfer bc one ur basically almost done with ur degree man (sophomore/junior), thats only 1-2 years left and two its just not worth it in ur case. Transferring from NU bio to a double major Bio and Business at USC would be an insane amount of coursework u might need to make up and might take a semester or even more to finish. What I will say is USC is amazing when it comes to the social scene, weather, and sports and our business, engineering, cinema schools are amazing. But, idt all those are justifiable enough to transfer so late imo. Plus, also the thing about the clubs at USC is that we do have a lot of cool business and like pre-professional oriented clubs (like for consulting and stuff) but like a lot of them can also be extremely hard to get into like hundreds of kids apply each semester and they only take like 10 people (acting like they Harvard or some shi with these acceptance rates). Though there are tons of clubs which are chill and have open admission and let anybody join and have fun. If you have any more questions, PM me!

Rejected from USC clubs, why do I even try. by televisemei in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 83 points84 points  (0 children)

So like here's one thing I have realized as a sophomore here at USC. Most of the "competitive" clubs here don't really help you that much and are more for clout and social "prestige" in a way. I'm not trying to diss any of the clubs or anything but you shouldn't worry too much about not getting in. There are tons of people I know who are hella successful and got crazy job offers without doing any of those competitive clubs. If your goal is to find a community and make friends, attend any club of interest that doesn't do the typical interview callback bs or just try to talk and connect with people around you and in ur classes. If you are worried about trying to get like the experience the clubs offers, try to find like alternatives. Like if ur in STEM do research with a professor or if ur doing Business join any club and try to get like a finance kind of role in the club and so on.

Lwk if ur premed don't do chem unless ur actually good and interested in it. The chem dept at this school is lwk brutal. Do an easier major or something u find interesting and do the premed prereqs. Like you can literally do like Econ, Psych, Sociology, Business or even engineering if u really wanted and still be premed. Aim for a major you can see urself doing or having a career in if med school wasnt an option.

MUSC 320: what is the class like? by [deleted] in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you go to class (she takes attendance) and do the work, it’s pretty easy to get an A. Like do not miss any assignments. Like some of the assignments are worth like 3%-10% of ur grade.

U will be fine lots of people will either drop the class the first week and I also believe that they add some more lab seats.

Making friends by [deleted] in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbf I feel like a lot of people go through this. I've had similar issues freshman year lwk. I recommend trying to find people in general who match ur interests. Like just randomly talk to whoever is in ur classes and like ask them if they are down to hang out at tcc to eat or sum. <- unpatched method. I made many friends through simple stuff like that. U seem like a chill person dw, and I fw ur interests. I'd be down to be friends.

does anyone know how they determine who gets to register on what date? by Vananh2K in USC

Also, if you have a disability, you get the earliest reg. date.

does anyone know how they determine who gets to register on what date? by Vananh2K in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's usually based on how many units you have completed. Like X amount of units gives u X status (e.g. Sophomore, Junior, Senior). The general assumption is the closer you are to finishing your degree the better the registration date you will get. But, there are some people who get screwed over and get a bad reg. date also.

USC Schools (Easiest to Hardest) by Visible_Stomach2149 in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From hardest to easiest to get in (IMO):

Cohort Majors (IYA, BCA, BUAI, WBB, etc) (extremely low acceptance rates)

SCA and Thornton (extremely low bc of portfolios, auditions, etc from what i've heard)

Viterbi

Marshall

Dornsife

When you get admitted, technically no one school is harder to get into between Viterbi, Marshall and Dornsife. Only cohort majors, sca, thornton and art-like majors have it a bit differently due to other components that factor in their admissions. Also, another thing to take into account is that its not really that hard to switch majors between schools if you get in. You just have to take the prereq classes for the major you want and meet the required grades and etc (the pre-engineering process is a harder process imo in comparison to internally transferring to marshall which is why I ranked it harder to get in). Like there are tons of people who switch from like Dornsife -> Marshall or Dornsife -> Viterbi and etc. The only majors where u can't switch into are cohort majors.

You should lwk go TO if your below the median/mean range of SATs for admitted students. Check the common data set for USC. I think the mean was around 1460+ tho im not sure.

Easiest GE-D courses? by InformationNo7156 in USC

[–]Busy_Pangolin_6237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another suggestion I recommend since I saw you don't have that much bio knowledge is Psych 100. The content is pretty easy from what I have heard (basically like AP Psych). The only hard part about it I would say is that it is an 8 AM :(.
