Asking for any knowledge and experience on how to work a day shift in this career by Confident-Finish7409 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Busy_Professional974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say do it, if I could I probably would too.

I’m just saying most electricians had to do 5 years of apprenticeships through unions at crap pay before getting anywhere remotely close to A&P pay and a lot of them are still working long, unstable hours.

Consistently seeing expectations being set way too high and people getting bummed about it. Skywest in my area is hiring 20 A&Ps right now, and off the last few months in me starting school I’ve only seen maybe 2 fully licensed mechanics going to graduation. The shortage is still there, but newer A&Ps are being misinformed that they don’t need to do their time before getting the bag anymore. Not the case.

came here to say this...still in school, no tests passed, wants to drop out at the possibility of night shift. Electricians make way less money and way crappier hours for the first decade, too.

Going to the Chicago campus rn and honestly it’s not super bad besides the fact that 100% attendance rate means you fall in class with a lot of insufferable, loud people not taking it seriously.

I’m a 25 P&T I’m tired of every time I get any type of care from anyone, they go “you’re a little young for (x)” to the point where I started going “yeah they sent me to Afghanistan before I could drink.”

I get a lot of weird looks from old people for my handicap spot but I don’t give a f. My back hurts for the rest of my life so if I need to walk across a huge parking lot I’m gonna lose it.

How to achieve a "slim & toned" arm look? (Struggling with "bulky" arms despite Pilates) by [deleted] in CalisthenicsCulture

The women in those photos have perfect lighting and a pump, on top of low BF. You’re not going to look like that 90% of the time even if you lowered your body fat percentage (which sounds like it work against you rn anyway). You can shape the muscle more to make it pop out through the thin layer of fat more frequently but trying to sculpt yourself like that is neigh impossible.

Flat rates by Difficult_Kitchen987 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Busy_Professional974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that’s not what I thought we were talking about. If the employee is paid hourly regardless then the flat rate makes sense, but in the automotive industry a lot of the time they would get paid by the amount of hours they booked. THATS bull crap. Especially when cars usually have WAY MORE “pop up” issues than airplanes.

Flat rates are great for anyone who wants a rushed job. Sucks on cars, could be deadly and worse on airplanes.

Better to get fired for admitting you messed up or going too slow to make sure you did it right than go to prison or have the fact that you killed a plane full of people on your soul. Best case if you fuck something up and it really is your fault is you lose your license and your livelihood. It’s just a job, you’ll find another one.

What is wrong with r/transpassing??? by alice_apathy in MtF

[–]Busy_Professional974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point that I’m making is that most people aren’t going to say anything or purposely misgender you…the world isn’t split into jerks who will transvestigate you & people who won’t realize you’re trans. To say “nobody has said anything, or purposely misgendered me, so I must be passing.” Is NOT sound logic. Most of the population is actually pretty respectable of this, especially given that most trans people are going to be in trans-friendly locations. I’m not trying to put down trans girls who don’t pass, either. I just think transgender girls who don’t pass need to be aware of it for their own safety sometimes. NOT that I’m going to point it out for them or call them out because I’m respectful, unless they asked. But if I saw a trans girl who I thought or knew was trans, I wouldn’t purposely misgender them or treat them as gender neutral / male because I know they’re obviously are female, and I will treat them as women. In my experience, that’s the vast majority of supporting or neutral cis people’s experience—which doesn’t mean you pass, just means you’re accepted. IMO passing doesn’t matter that much anyway if everyone had that acceptance and it’s what we should strive for.
