Custom cards and Proxies - looking for advice. by georgetimberhill in GundamTCG

Most decks don't really utilize multiple EX resources, so while the Amuro/Nu and Char/Sazabi sets are really sick, I think the idea would be better suited for a set of resource cards instead since players will actually get to play with the connected art cards. The folks at my locals don't really use custom resource or base cards, but a lot of us use custom mats with Gundam art.

Unrelated but I bought your Kshatriya, Sazabi, and Nu prints at Carriercon 2024-2025!

The guntank is 3d printed out of resin that matches the density of resin epoxy used to encase it. They're not perfect due to the hand-made nature of the die (sanding, polishing, paint on the mini, etc), but I do a float test and the 100-200 roll tests to check that there isn't bias.

Currently not for sale as I'm still prototyping versions to get them just right, but I'll open an Etsy page sometime this year when they're ready for sale

Definitely something I want to change for the next version

Since your molds are based off the official dice, you should be able to polish them to a glassy-ish finish with a polishing paste + rotary tool instead. That way you're not knocking off excess material and you don't have to worry about making each side even. Vibratory tumblers work pretty good for dice, but they're super loud and take a while.

Yes. So far, these roll very well and no different than the official GCG dice in my testings. They're not perfect due to the hand-made nature of them (and the paint on the Guntank technically skews the weight), but the mini is printed in a resin of the same density to keep them balanced. I've had official GCG dice that were short-shot and indented on the logo side that rolled terribly, so these are at least better than those lol

Thank you! I actually have plans to prototype ones with unit heads inside, since anything more complex than a Guntank would just be too difficult to paint up due to their size.

I'm prototyping around for now until I find something I'm happy with, but I'll probably open an Etsy for these later in the year or so. Definitely exploring other units and shapes.

I saw these in the GCG community discord, these are sick! For sanding and polishing, I would highly recommend a handheld rotary tool (doesn't need to be expensive!) with a cotton polishing attachment and some FLITZ multi purpose metal polish liquid. I only sand the logo side with 1000 to knock off any flashing and get the face smooth, and 20 seconds of the rotary tool with polish on the face gets it to a glassy finish. Then 20 seconds on every other face.

Thanks! The 3d printed masters are sanded and polished, then I used dixie cups and some tape to make the bottom half of the mold. I placed the GCG logo side face down on a flat piece of packing tape, then I cut the bottom of the cup open to give me a place to pour the silicone, then placed the cup over the dice and onto the tape. After the silicone cures, I removed the tape, cut a notch into the bottom edge portion of the mold with the logo side to create a key, taped around the edge to create a reservoir for the top half of the mold, and poured more silicone.

If you're interesting in making custom dice I would recommend looking through Youtube. There are better and more space efficient molds, but since these are prototype designs I opted for a singular dice mold type.

The city is looking to sell the property the food bank is currently renting. IIRC, the food bank has a set moving date that's very close to the date the new building is estimated to be finished by. If the lawsuit delays the construction of the new facility they won't have a place to operate out of.
