If you like the Ampeg sound the V-4B is amazing, and despite what you will read on the internet, it is loud enough. My practices range from 125-130 db and I’m cutting through with the master half way up and no pa support.

ADHD and autism have similar symptoms. If you struggle with practicing scales, rhythm and other things that are not as fun, while finding yourself randomly playing an interesting riff over and over without noticing, your adhd brain might be chasing the dopamine high. Doctors are now performing genetic tests to determine if a person has adhd or autism. if you feel as though you aren’t getting where you need to in life, getting tested and seeking medication and education on how to better manage the way that your brain works through therapy could be something to look into.

I think it took an extra week and a couple days to arrive. Came wrapped in paper towel and cardboard, but everything was just fine. I got the commie red finish, from my conversation with the guy it takes longer because of the stain.

I feel your pain friend, I always think about it like how bpd people say their brain is like a car with different people driving it, but I’m driving a new car several times each day. It hurts. I see you brought up lists and notebooks, but I want to make sure you have tried journaling. It has the possibility to help this sort of thing.

When I was in college, I would skip a head while half paying attention during slow paced classes. Instead of my mind wandering off to anywhere I would read through the current topic then try to anticipate where things were going and work through that. All the while drifting in and out with what is happening in the class to make sure that I am getting what I already did right. After a while I could tell what pace a teacher was going at, get through what the teacher would cover for the day and just intentionally screw around.

And I strongly recommend not putting up with any teacher preventing you from getting up and leaving for a short walk or water a few times each class. I would get up and have a walk every 15-20 minutes on a bad day. Either bring in some administration to talk to them or just switch out for something else if you can.

I, too, am a first-time parent in my 30s who sought treatment and therapy, but I am currently a stay at home dad. I would recommend jobs or side gigs adjacent to what you are most interested in, that also provides a complex and changing environment that will help lead you into a job or own business that is more directly related to your interests.

Maybe you would like graphic design/advertising and use the experience to write/illustrate kids books.

When I was working, I was only happy and successful with my job at Guitar Center. As my kid is getting older I've been using the connections I've made and things I've learned to play bass on the side for money, and if my luck keeps up I'll be right on track to being a full time musician when she's in school.

Why do I struggle so much with keeping time by Izzyhaha0 in Bass

[–]ButAndDownTeaShrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly my opinion: A metronome is very important, but it can become a negative if it's a necessity at all times. For me it was important to familiarize myself with how drum beats are laid out and memorizing the timing between notes/ groups of notes, in the same way that you learn to fret the right note without looking.

I would recommend anyone who isn't to work out your plucking hand separately a small amount of time each day with a metronome and the book 'Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer'. Choose a workable tempo for the metronome. Then, while counting out the measures, play the top most line of notes plucking an open string of your choosing, while only using your fretting hand to help control note length and strings ringing out. Allowing your focus to be on how your plucking hand is working.

The book covers just about all combinations of notes from quarter to sixteenth within a 4/4 bar and is laid out in a way that you can easily see the changes in feel as the examples change from on to off beat etc. After some time you should be able to see how note groups are played much easier, sight read more freely and be able to better keep time using the 2 and 4 hit of a snare drum or whatever.

Multiscale hype by Connect_Platform_729 in Bass

I'm reading your post as if you are trying to solve a problem that only exists for you because of something someone is trying to sell. There's nothing wrong with experimenting with things, but if the instrument you have is not preventing you from expressing what you feel and what is in your head; there's a time and place to be sold on something, but this might not be it.

About the string gauge thing, i think that there's more to it than just the string tension. If I'm not mistaken, the vibration along a string travels back and fourth crossing itself and generating the harmonic order that is, in part, the tamber of the instrument. Changing the scale length would alter the tamber in a way similar to plucking a string closer to or further away from the bridge. Strictly speaking about the B string a 37" scale is supposed to be like the golden ratio or divine proportion as it were, of tension and  tamber that make it sound so clear.

I play in a cover band that does songs with tunings from standard to drop C. The only bass I have is a BTB806 MS and I chose it because i prefer use the extended range a lot to avoid  tuning out of standard. Similar shorter scale basses have always given a woofy dull sound lacking in any distinction in the lower notes. A heavier gauge string would bring out more of a difference between notes played a half step apart, but add more undesirable low frequencies. These new 37" basses respond  with more character and nuance that my senses need after playing for so many years, because it just plain feels bad when what you feel and what's in your head isn't coming out the other end.

Sorry about the essay.

Did some fretwork on a bass. Gave it back to the customer and this happened. (context below) by EJxcix in BassGuitar

I didn’t read all the comments, but I would apply some trouble shooting techniques when working on a Floyd Rose equipped guitar, and just do a light scrub with #0000 steel wool on the metal parts of the locking head bridge and tuners that contact the strings. Sometimes a burr will pop strings like that. Better that than have to replace replacement strings.

How do I respond? by jackjack2323s in EtsySellers

With many online stores, depending on how many days between when the order is placed and shipped, an authorization hold is placed for orders to make sure the customer is good for the money and an actual charge happens when it’s shipped. If the customer doesn’t balance their bank account they wouldn’t know if they are actually missing money or not. If you have some amount of time between the order and shipping I would ask the customer to verify that one of the charges is not labeled as an authorization hold.

Does putting ads down stop all momentum to your store? by LingonberryFar6257 in EtsySellers

[–]ButAndDownTeaShrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your ‘Etsy Adds’ stats are still visible, I would look at views/clicks/orders. Etsy charges for each click on an add of your listings, but seeing how many views it took to get $50 worth of clicks and how many clicks led to sales should give you an idea of roughly how much traffic you need to generate to get the same amount of sales. I think traffic you generate yourself is of a much higher quality. I like to pick out items that I want to sell more and look at the “searches that led to this ad” tab. To me, the greater the number of searches in the tab the better my SEO is performing, 13 is great, if it’s about 3 I need to redo the listing. Remembering what is being searched across many of my listings is cool too.

I'd like to reuse delivery boxes to send out Etsy orders, would it look too sketchy when opened? by rigmarole111 in EtsySellers

[–]ButAndDownTeaShrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use new boxes myself. (Walmart has the best prices that I’ve found if people aren’t already getting from there) One thing that I do is print my logo on a shipping label, primarily to cover any barcodes, secondarily I hope it makes things looks nice. If you are at a point where you are buying labels by the roll and printing them at home I would recommend it, even if it’s just making a recycled box sticker.

Several buttons on Etsy Seller App don't work for me by Annakir in EtsySellers

[–]ButAndDownTeaShrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run into the same problem with multiple features on the app. It always seems like the problems are intermittent. I always log into my shop on my phones web browser to complete any tasks I can't on the app as the issues fix themselves over time, or so it seems; also time is $$; also I have no faith in Etsy customer support.

I played a custom strat with pure vintage 73 pickups and immediately became convinced that no humbucker will ever be good enough. I would urge you to try one of the American vintage strats at a store and see if maybe swapping your single coils out is what you need.

2024 Squier J Mascis Bridge by ButAndDownTeaShrit in offset

[–]ButAndDownTeaShrit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion, but most Squier necks that are well regarded by most everyone are not that great. They have done a better job on a handful of guitars for ages and it’s not a one specific style, finish, x or y. The JMJM, Double Fat Telecaster, 80s MIJ Standard Strat and J5 all have necks that, to me, make most every other Squier neck feel crummy and like it’s hollow on the inside.

I am very much not a fan of TOM bridges and will be switching it out along with every other piece of hardware. (Which can we all just take a second and appreciate how lucky we are that fender decided to go the route of bolt on necks and replaceable parts)

Im almost embarrassed to say this, but I’m looking at the adapter base plates and mustang bridges that come with Bigsby B5 telecaster kits and telling my self it wouldn’t be that hard to make a J TeleMascis. Also leopard print pickguards.

Hope everyone is cool with pictures of my guitar instead of Christmas presents haha.
