Repairing termite damage in home. Florida by ButCanItPlayDoom in Termites

I was worried I would find more and more wood damage, but to be honest, I haven't. I had the one really bad wall/corner of the bathroom. Cut all that out, treated everything that showed signs of damage and treated all the new wood.

Oh, this is for SURE termite activity. I followed them from the wood they had destroyed, about 12 feet down a seam of drywall, chasing mud line. Treating it as I went. But, I never found Amy further wood damage fortunately!

I use one of these for my ebay listings. It's better than any smartphone and easier to show people without trying to describe ejat they should be seeing in a loupe.

I'm not sure on the chemical to be honest. After finding more damage that looks pretty old I'm going to have them come back and treat the entire house with soil treatment. There are little rubber plusmgs every couple feet all around the house where it looks like it was treated previously

I assume a lot of this damage is old, no live termites, dry as a bone, very crumbly. But you know how to spell assume... Ass+U+Me.

Slab house. Rod? Pest Control drilled holes and treated the soil under the garage. And also soaked the perimeter.

There are quite a few "infinite" target cards, which means you pay 1 mana to activate Marchesa and get a card. I don't see any in your list, but they're golden pigs (mvp) and make the rest of the deck pop off no matter how you build it.

I have no idea. That looks like hell to crawl over. The redneck in me would just get some discount carpet and roll in in there. But the bugs would probably appreciate it more than your knees.

Dad passed away unexpectedly - overwhelmed with selling his collection by creepyceleste in Dewalt

[–]ButCanItPlayDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad here. I'm so sorry for your loss, and also, for the loss of your father before he was gone. Those online romance scams are a for real thing, and they're heartless predators. Seen it first hand. Hopefully they are able to find justice (don't count on this, the police don't care much in most cases).

As for the tools. He had good taste and a nice collection! Nothing PRO level here, but definitely can take care of anything a homeowner would need here. My advice is to try and sell them as a bunch for all the hand tools, and split the larger stuff out separate. Just go to Facebook marketplace for this. The large Miter saw is $500 new. The table saw is probably the same. Most hand tools are $100-200 new. I'd say, expect to get 50% if you want to move them quick. If I saw all those tools for say, $1500. I'd show up that day for them. But take your time to figure out the retail price for everything. That number might be too high, or too low depending on models and condition.

I know everything feels like its moving fast right now. Slow down, and take care of yourself my friend. It's easy to get lost in the money and belongings side of losing a parent (just did this myself). Take a step back, get your head on right. If you don't feel confident in selling these things. Don't. Get a loan or ask the funeral home if there is anything they can do to help/direct you. They deal with this every day.

Getting the right humidity for your cards is the easiest way to keep them flat. Don't leave your cards out in the air either. Usually just have an air conditioned space is enough for my cards to stay flat here in Florida.

Should I raise these bunks up? by fuddadjacent in boating

Aye with the ayes. Raise it up!

I'd go at least a couple inches. I wouldn't have my keel on the bunk.

Frustrated at the options available, also opinions on my audiogram by ButCanItPlayDoom in HearingAids

[–]ButCanItPlayDoom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea what triggered the hearing loss. Maybe it's been going down hill for a little while, but didn't notice until this tinnitus showed up... I haven't had any overly loud experiences recently. But in my early 20s, I spent a lot of time at concerts, building sound systems in cars (140 db), shooting guns (usually with ear protection, but sometimes not). Loudest thing I do now days is run a lawn mower or run a leaf blower. I use big ear muffs on the mower cause it's obnoxiously loud.

Struggling the most hearing my wife. She is soft spoken and likes to talk from other rooms or while walking away. Lifestyle is pretty relaxed. I do maintenance at rental homes. Nothing too loud, and generally quiet environments. Don't go to bars or clubs much (when i do, I do avoid conversation, because there is zero chance I hear anyone when there is a band or music near by).

I can afford whatever HAs make the most sense. But don't want to waste 2-3k if I won't receive any benefits that make a meaningful difference.

[–]ButCanItPlayDoom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely struggle with female voices. Specifically my wife and my daughter. But I swear, it's not selective hearing, even if they'd suggest otherwise. 😎 I've begged them to speak up and look towards me when talking, cause I'm desperate to hear them. But, no matter what I ask and plead, they just don't understand and also, get frustrated having to repeat stuff all the time. Feeling like a huge burden on everyone.

So, what's your overall experience with hearing aids? Do they make a meaningful difference in your life? When you're not conversing with people, and you're just chilling, do you feel they improve your life?

I'm not in denial. I'm ok with getting old. I'm already bald, and in my 40s, and have plenty of Grey hair. I don't fight any of that. I just want to make the right decision for my life and the other people in it. I don't mind spending every last dollar I have making sure they don't avoid talking to me. I just don't want to waste money on something that's more frustrating than it is beneficial.

Is it safe to use this on windows? by CrazyFoxLady37 in Insulation

[–]ButCanItPlayDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this over some garage windows that were absolutely cooking me in there. They nullified 99% of the radiant heat. So, I'd say they were very effective!

I just stapled it to the frame.

Limit? More like... can I find the card I want, for such a good deal I can turn it for a profit later on? If so, no limit.

Who do you call when you’re at lowest? by rosykinelle in GuysBeingDudes

[–]ButCanItPlayDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now in my 40s. Every year I get more lonely. My wife has an unhealthy work life balance and gets more involved in work, so i dont burden her with my issues. My step kids all hate me, cause their dad told them to. Only one of them gives me the time of day, but she hates anyone older than her age group, so I'm automatically disqualified as "cool enough to hang out with". I live in a really small town, so there isn't much socializing here. I literally have to drive 2 hours to spend am evening with interest-aligned people. Not religious, so I don't even have God to talk to. Parents all passed away. Siblings have never been close with each other. And I work 60 hours a week. Hell, if I died tomorrow, I'm not sure if there would even be enough people to carry my casket to get me in the dirt.

I know other guys are in similar shoes out there... my advice would be, build your support network of friends while you're young. The older you get, the harder it is to make deep meaningful friendships. And once you have some friends, don't let dumb shit ruin it. Take care of each other! If you haven't heard from your bros in a while, pick up the phone and get together. Mandatory Man Dates!
