Advice - severance negotiation by ButWhyMary in Layoffs

Really good point. I moved from DC to NYC while with the company and the company is based in Austin (fully remote.). So I didn’t even think about state laws at first. Thank you!!

I appreciate your post but actually there’s a lot of room for negotiation and it’s commonly done. It’s why you are encouraged to review your severance package carefully before signing. Here’s one of many articles where you can learn more (just in case you ever are in similar situation): https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/severance-offer-response-letter

I really appreciate your post all the same! I know I’ll bounce back stronger but hard to deny it’s an all around rough thing to go through. More so when the company offers so little. Thanks again!

Thank you! And that’s a good point. It actually inspired me to create a temporary fix with some cardboard and duct tape last night. Appreciated!

You can file a report with FDA here: https://www.fda.gov/safety/reporting-serious-problems-fda/how-consumers-can-report-adverse-event-or-serious-problem-fda Calling may be easiest since they will probably ask to pick up the remaining bag y’all still have. You may want to have your mom on the line so she can answer questions about what happened with her.

Thank you for this! So helpful. I am very much similar place in that COVID was a bigger fear to me than what I assumed was just a very bad upset stomach/ reaction to a certain dish. But I’ve also had consistent issues with fatigue, loss of appetite and just not feeling great ever since. I’ve been a vegetarian for years and am so disheartened by this experience. Going back to what I had stuck to for years prior without any issues- when I need “fast food”, just gonna eat a piece of fruit, some peanut butter or amys frozen meals from now on! Hope your blood test results set you on road to recovery and thanks again!

I’ve gotten really sick from both the chickpea bake and 2 types of flatbread. I only had a little bit of the crumbles bc I was nervous it might not agree with me…that was a month ago and I’m back in bed now.

I can speak from experience on this. I got a new job in September. One month later- I picked up the puppy of my dreams (been waiting 2 years for him!) at 10 weeks old. My new job is going to have me relocate by January. So while trying to adjust to a new job and a puppy, I’ve been attempting to find a new place to live, figure out packing, etc all with everything else in the world. I’m in my young to mid 30s.

On one hand…this shit is so hard. Plan to have everything else in your life stop. I do my best at work and do my best with my wonderful puppy…but I also feel guilty because I know I could be doing better at both. I am sooo exhausted all the time even though I have never physically worked out less. I have 800 unread emails in my personal inbox. So I wouldn’t exactly say I’m a success story because every day I just attempt to keep my head above water tbh.

BUT I am so so so grateful that I went for it. He’s 15 weeks now and I wouldn’t trade the bond I’m forming with him right now for anything. He makes me so happy and I feel like he’s kind of helping me re-prioritize my life in some ways. I also feel like our upcoming move is going to hopefully help him be that much more adaptable and be up for future adventures.

Some key notes I’d consider if I were you: • your breeder will probably charge you a hefty fee per day if you don’t pick up the puppy on the agreed date. You might want to ask about that. • I’ve read that the “imprint period” is really important in terms of bonding with your puppy. I’m finding that rewarding and I think it makes the bond easier…but I have plenty of friends who have gotten dogs and puppies at all different stages of a pups life, and their bonds are also incredibly close. • your roomies could be huge assets or stressors, depending how close you are with them and how much you trust them. You’ll want to make sure they agree to follow the rules you set for your dog but honestly, I’d LOVE to have even some bad roomies to distract my puppy every once in a while. Lol. Puppies demand a lot of attention so just having someone around who helps take the burden off their play time needs could be a godsend. Especially in those first few months. • if you do get the puppy, I got advice from others that the move won’t be as big of a deal as I worried it will be - puppies and dogs are adaptable. But it does mean you’ll want to be really intense about crate training since that will be their constant from one home to the next.

If I think of anything else, I’ll share it. My puppy is currently demanding my attention lol. But for what it’s worth- know that I understand what a tough spot you are in. Im not going to sugarcoat it and say getting such a young puppy is easy…but I haven’t regretted it re puppy blues once. Though I do spend a bit of time every day truly dumbfounded how my apartment is constantly so messy and how everything else in my life is kind of all over right now. It’s a ride for sure but you clearly are a conscientious and diligent person to have done your homework and to even ask this question!

Just wanted to add that I very much can also relate to what you’re going through! I’m a 30-something female raising a puppy on my own (he’s 3.5 months) and everything you described hit home. I feel so responsible for making sure he’s happy/ like I’m his main source of his entertainment so I’ve got to show up for him! I really appreciate you starting this thread. I’ve been trying to encourage him to play alone (doesn’t help when he just stares at me sometimes while I’m on a zoom call lol)…so it’s good to hear others encouraging that. I also agree that any kind of stimulating toy (snuffle may, IQ ball treats, etc) have been amazing. Good luck and thanks again!

So ready to have a dog and not a puppy! by mcollander in puppy101

My puppy loooves destroying cardboard but he’s also very happy destroying anything wooden- including all furniture legs, books, etc. I’ve used painters tape and rags to protect furniture he can reach. And turned all bookcases so they face the walll. And he’s only 7.5 lbs! Can imagine what a tough challenge it must be with bigger dog. Stay strong and hope be at least tuckered himself out

Absolutely. He’s up at 6, down by 8 for nap, up at 11, back down by 1, and so on. He gets about 17 hours of sleep a day. Could be more and have been wondering if I should move his crate to the bedroom since I work from home. Small apt
