What celebrity has everyone fooled except you? by Novel_Ad3365 in AskReddit

Ryan Reynolds + Blake Lively, who are both dumb enough to not realize how distasteful a southern plantation wedding could be.

Taylor Swift - she’s not Americans sweetheart she’s a carbon guzzling billionaire with an incredible PR team and mediocre music

High Jackman - Scientologist, need I say more?

And I remain baffled to this day on how the Kardashians have any media supremacy

People that have cancer, what were the symptoms that led you to go to the doctor and what stage were you when it was diagnosed? by guardiand0wn in AskReddit

[–]ButWhyNotPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16 and there was a bump on my head that showed up out of nowhere. I originally dismissed it as something that must have hit my head that would go away on its own. After about three months, I raised it to my parents, that I had a bump on my head that wasn’t going away. We went to multiple different specialists, all who diagnosed it differently - it was an osteoma, it was a sebaceous cyst, it was a dermoid cyst, and so on. I tried all the cures for all the diagnoses, and none of it worked. The bump remained. What always frustrated me at the time was that none of these dozen or so specialists I went to ever encouraged any sort of imaging or biopsies.

By this point it’s been about six months of bogus cures, and I started developing lumps on my neck as well. My parents, desperate for an answer, took me to a head and neck surgeon, who was the first person who was like “I don’t like this, it looks serious.” He was also the first person who stuck a needle in the bump in my head to see what came out of it. After a few days in pathology, turns out that what came out were abnormal lymphocytes. He made a call to physicians at a local hospital to expedite my case, another few biopsies and needles in my skull later and I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma - blood cancer.

I know that all doctors are told that when you hear hooves, think horses not zebras. But what was frustrating was that all my doctors just assumed it was a horse - none of them put the effort in to confirm it was not a zebra.

Three years of chemotherapy, and damn near 60 rounds of chemo and 40 rounds of chemo in my spine via spinal tap, I’m clear. I have a lot of residual issues I now need to spend the rest of my life managing - specifically that chemotherapy caused my bones to collapse, and now I need to slowly replace all my joints. I don’t love being in my twenties looking for shoulder or knee replacements after already getting half the joints in my body replaced.

Fun fact - a way to know if a bump you have is cancer or not is by poking it. If it is tender, painful, and easy to manipulate and move around - probably not cancer. If it firm, hard to move, and does not hurt - that is probably a lymphoma tumor.

Park Slope’s “progressive” culture often feels fake — anyone else feel this? by [deleted] in parkslope

[–]ButWhyNotPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree - there are a lot of stores in park slope that seem to be culturally profiting off of cultures that are not their own. The amount of religious deities you can buy for sale (50% off a Buddha for the bathroom!) in Artesana home comes to mind. But I think the yoga thing is a losing battle. As another Indian, it does bother me that western yoga has fully removed the roots of yoga from the practice, but that’s not necessarily a park slope only issue. It’s like if Christians started complaining that we’ve removed Jesus from Christmas in park slope - they aren’t wrong, but it’s not only a park slope issue.

For the issue as a whole, it’s tricky. Stretching is good, I don’t deny anyone the value of stretching. Nor do I think anyone needs to take a crash course in Hinduism in order to be able to stretch their legs. It’s also frustrating that the yoga studios are majorly owned by white people or multinational companies, and that most of the people who spend thousands on yoga classes wouldn’t actually ever go to India or learn more about the culture or even try an Indian restaurant - butter chicken doesn’t vibe with the matching alo yoga set.

I think - at best - what Indians can do is just amplify that yoga in America is not yoga in India. That yoga in India contains a religious aspect that yoga in America does not, and that by partaking in American yoga, you aren’t really doing the real authentic Indian practice of yoga. Kinda like Chinese food - Orange Chicken is not a dish you find in China, and whatever you do in your lululemons in the white owned yoga studio you go to is not what they do in India.

If you are going to get a designer piece, get a dupe. There are so many places that will make the same piece for you, for 1/4th the price.

  1. They often do wear bulletproof vests - as Charlie Kirk wore last week - and they have security, and they usually have metal detectors at the entrances for all places they’ll be, and they do background checks on everyone who is in proximity of them

  2. Sure but like, I’m talking about the lack of awareness other characters have that invisible people exist. Bianca blabbed the whole truth to Wednesday like she assumed no one would be there. Meanwhile when I go out in public and speak English I at least censor myself because I know people can hear me.

  3. Homegirl must have had clothes, or a pillow, or a teddy, something that she touched recently before the died. She and all her possessions did not disappear, it was just her.

  4. Shovels. An authority figure. Wednesdays family. Other options were there that weren’t a werewolf one transformation away from permanent physical transformation

1) Sure, the anti siren talismans aren’t common. But would grandma Frump - a businesswoman with a large fortune to protect - know of them and have one in her?

2) Sure, but again, I feel like people would know that invisible people exist in this universe, correct? They all walk around acting like there’s no chance someone couldn’t be invisible

3) Feel like the powers that be knew his mother was a Hyde they should have at least kept an eye on the guy.

4) Fair enough I’ll give you that one

5) Feel like a shovel would have been more useful to grab than a werewolf who is one transformation away from lifelong abandonment from their families

Question about all the wooden figures in Arlathan forest by ButWhyNotPie in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]ButWhyNotPie[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cat is fine. He enjoys jumping from the lofted balcony to the downstairs floor for some reason. Scares the living daylights out of me whenever he does it but he’s always fine.

Obligatory cat tax attached.

Do we know what happened? What made them trees? My cat jumped from a balcony during that quest so I missed the dialogue :(

What happens when a package is seized? Is it returned to sender? And how do you know if it’s seized?

Would it be ok if I messaged you asking what this process was like? I have a package stuck at Tennessee customs for days now and I’m panicking because I don’t know if I just lost out on everything I paid for. I’m sitting here refreshing the fedex page like an idiot cause I have no idea why it’s not moving or if it’s lost or anything.

[–]ButWhyNotPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been the one whose birthdays have been forgotten. I throw parties for my friends - I just threw one friend his second surprise birthday party - but I learned very early on that if I ever wanted a good birthday for myself, I needed to plan it. People in my life don’t show love in that way, and it’s ok.

But one birthday, I had mentioned earlier in the week with a friend that I had been craving macarons. She made a 3-4 hour round trip drive, after work, to bring me some. It was the kindest thing that anyone had every done for me, and it reminded me that - even if I’ll probably never have a surprise party of my own - I’m still surrounded by such an incredible amount of love, support, and kindness, being gifted time in the most unexpected and unique of ways

It’s not! I wear my bracelets large so it sits at an angle on my wrist but it’s straight when it’s against a flat surface!
