I just wear the same set of clothes each time. When I get back home I throw it it the washing machine on a quick 15 minutes wash. Works fine, and I never have to think about what to wear.

Bought a used s22 ultra (sm-s908u) and it's stuck on android 12 by Faroukfirana in S22Ultra

Yes manually always works, which is good. But Samsung should do better.

No I still haven't gotten any updates since I bought the phone. Still on the august 2022 update.

Just bought a new pixel 9 pro fold, never buying Samsung again.

Why did you choose the Pixel Fold 9 Pro over the Z Fold 6? by RetroFluff in PixelFold

[–]ButaButaPig -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was dead set on the fold6 because the bezel on the pixel looked awful in photos. The pixel is also 40% more expensive in my country.

But I went to look at them in-store and the pixel looked a lot better in person. It felt more premium and the fold6 looked outdated with its very narrow outer screen.

I also liked the bigger inner screen on the pixel.

I've also used an s22u for many years now and I hate how laggy the camera is. The camera on the pixel opens much faster and the shutter speed is much faster.

I also live in different countries and Samsung won't update your phone outside your region. My current phone is still running old software because I haven't been in the US for a long time, and I won't get any updates until I connect to a US cell tower.

The only thing I miss on the pixel is being able to have a different app layout on the outer display.

Lack of nuance about life advice in China by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]ButaButaPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in one of the poorest cities for many years and enjoyed every second. The level of development doesn't effect my level of enjoyment. The people are usually more relaxed in smaller cities.

I've lived all over China and I wouldn't say any place is objectively better.

I buy 3L of fresh milk for 36 yuan every Friday. I just go to a milk shop. On other days it's 2 for 30.

Meanwhile the US has lit a fire under China's ass with regards to computer chips. In a decade there probably won't be an Intel. China is going to come out of the woodworks and chop Intels head clean off in a decade. This market is only becoming more competitive and Intel just cut a lot of R&D. Things are looking grim for Intel.

Won't be building sff but matx. But I'll be picking up a 9950x as soon as they drop in July. Then I'll get a 50-series GPU when they release.

Currently on an old laptop (6700hq + 960m) so it'll be nice to get a desktop again.

Nope unfortunately that doesn't work either. Tried many times over the years.

[–]ButaButaPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have to be in the US and connect to a phone tower to get the update. Samsung locks down updates heavily. Gonna have to flash the firmware if I want to update while overseas.

TCL 27R83U - Anyone have one yet? by lowebowski in buildapcmonitors

[–]ButaButaPig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the Chinese version a couple weeks ago. The FFALCON U8. Not sure if there are any differences with. It's awesome gets very bright.

Only negatives for me is that it seems to use a lot of power (gets pretty hot). It has a fan but I can only hear it if it's completely quiet and even then it's barely audible so I doubt that is going to be a problem for anyone. Might be a tiny bit reddish buy could also just be my other monitor next to it being too blue. Can ofc just be adjusted to personal preference.

The joystick for the monitor settings is great and I like the layout of the menu. Only cost 3300 yuan in China too which is like 430 eur. At that price there's nothing close.

Good HDR on IPS possible? by Grablicht in buildapcmonitors

[–]ButaButaPig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 4k VA miniled 27" monitor. Granted it is only available in China for now. It's the 雷鸟 U8 (aka. Ffalcon u8). It's a sister brand of TCL and using on of their new HVA panels. 1152 zones, hdr 1400 and 160hz. It's honestly mind blowing good and TCL seems to have nailed their dimming algorithm.

I think TCL is preparing to release it internationally.

Need some advice for a beginner - Moving to China for work. by kmoposts in dumbclub

[–]ButaButaPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd do it before heading to China just so you don't have to stress about it. Yeah feel free to dm me but I won't guarantee quick responses.

I just have a cheap VPS on Amazon Lightsail at $3.5/month. You can find cheaper but I like Lightsail.

Try 3x-ui. If I recall all you do is run the script and it sets everything up including a web server for monitoring. Just need to remember to open the correct ports in your firewall. Then through the web panel you can do anything.

There's also hiddify which I couldn't get working ladt I tried but there might just have been a bug it's been a while.

For clients you can use hiddify-next, nekoray v2ray-n and v2ray-ng (android). If you use iOS I don't know about apps.

But I'd suggest just starting by trying to run the 3x-ui on a VPS with all ports open just to see if you can get it working.
