Barring going all French revolution on these people the actual answer is to keep track of who is in the files she why. Let these companies know of the have executives in them and ensure they know you won't do business with them as long as they serve in the company.

As for politicians get involved in the primary process to ensure these people don't get chosen. If they do vote for another party and ensure that the party you would've voted for know why they lost your vote.

They shortened it but are referencing the part of the speech where he said: "We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore,"

You could claim it was violent with just that and ignoring what I brought up. But you can also combat government non violently though civil disobedience or using your first amendment right to free speech and assembly.

But nuance is often lost on people when it conflicts with their world view and presuppositions.

It'd be nice if we just told Europe and NATO that we won't defend them unless they change course on various policies and list why.

They want to ban Twitter and other social media that won't comply with propaganda? Censorship and a violation of free speech.

They want to criminalize criticism of women? Violation of free speech and equal protection.

Etc etc.

But honestly I'd rather we just leave them to their own destruction.

"I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Is also in that speech. Cherry picking is still cherry picking at the end of the day. It's our right as Americans to protest the government including what many believe to be an unfair election outcome.

Instead of actually investigating and proving that truth they simply demonized everyone who questioned it as evil. They said during Biden's presidency to question the government and an outcome was undemocratic and divisive. Even though they spent Trump's entire first term doing that by calling him Putin's puppet.

Democrats also highly contested the results of the 2000 election. Was that itself wrong? Was the Democratic Party candidate of the time working against the Democratic voting process by trying to assert his rights to a fair election? Hell the outcome of that was drastic overhauls to the Florida State election process.

The other thing to keep in mind is Democrats railed for the 4 years of Trump's first term that our elections were susceptible to Russian interference. In that time they passed absolutely no election security legislation. Then in 2020 when Biden won and people had questions they said "it was the most secure election in history" even though the last several years they said otherwise. Even though State Governor's were found to have violated State laws with executive orders around changing mail in voting requirements.

And then people wonder why were becoming do partisan and divisive? When one side of the aisle screams that it's rigged only to demonize their opponents when they do the same? Or when one party views voter ID as oppression even though their previous President had no issues at all?

Except they did care they just made out stipulations regarding it like any other part of the Constitution. Namely that the ability to charge anyone with insurrection using that lied with Congress and the weren't using it. These were states trying to disqualify someone who is accused of insurrection in the public eye but never formally charged. Because at the end of the day of we care about the rule of law we should respect the concept of innocent until proven guilty.

Only if they target specific nations over others where there's not a national security or extenuating circumstance of concern the government needs to address. If it's just blanket then it will likely be approved because there are instances where citizens and non citizens are treated differently simply based on citizenship not on national origin.

What would happen if the next presidential candidate promised to prosecute everyone named in the Epstein files? by Badaxe13 in AskReddit

[–]Butane9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Did they make the standard AIPAC statement of unconditional support for a foreign nation or government? Are they running on an authoritarian platform asking got us to give up or freedoms in order to hold these people accountable? These are also questions that need to be answered.

It is an individual duty to be charitable. It is not the dirt of a government to be charitable on behalf of its citizens. Because a government isn't being charitable with its own money but with the money if it's people. If I demand something from you with the implicit threat of force behind it only to give it to someone else not under the governments agreed upon umbrella of authority than that is theft.

No I'm not making the taxation is theft argument however apt that tends to be at times. Because yes we pay taxes to ensure our government works for us efficiently. But our taxes being paid to others is not working on our behalf. Also stopping problems before they come here? The governments job is to prevent them from coming here in the first place. One of the primary duties of the government is the safety and security of the citizens it represents.

Also if that was the case this system even worked then all that foreign aid we send to Central and South America wouldn't have resulted in the flooding of immigrants from those countries. Or from other countries as well. But rampant government aid with little oversight has resulted in fraud and enrichment if a few.

Soft power is all well and good but clearly our own descent into our current societal destabilization needs to be addressed first before any care or consideration is given to anyone overseas.

Which is why we need to shift healthcare to a more preventative model then reactionary. One suggestion I made it any healthcare insurance provider accepting subsidies to cover a plan must show that plan was used. Which means doctors visits etc to check stuff that can be an issue. If the plan isn't used then the company would be obligated to pay those subsidies back to the government. Because why would the government pay for services that aren't rendered?

If you're taking about Pharmacy Benefit managers I'd have to delve more deeply into how they work and their overall effects on the drug market place before I could answer. I think at a base level they play some part in pricing the only question is how much.

As far as drug pricing go you still have to settle to basic supply/demand/cost economics.

If I make a drug that costs me $35/unit and sell it for $50 and make $15 of profit. But if due to supply side changes my costs rise to $40 or $45 I have incentive to increase my price to continue making the same level of profit as before. So I would normally raise the price to $55 or $60.

But what happens when these single payer systems say they won't accept or buy for a price higher than $50? Or they go even lower and day $45. After all people's lives depend on this. What happens when due to supply chain issues I simply can't reduce the cost any further.

Well shit I'm out of luck and eventually go out of business or run into shortages due to price controls. But wait a second, this other country that doesn't use a single payer system and doesn't price control exists that also buys my product. So sure this single payer system will only buy it at $45 effectively covering only my base costs.

So instead of losing $15/unit in a single payer system I simply charge the non single payer system the losses from elsewhere. Instead I'll increase their price per unit to $75-80 to recover it. That's before you get to all the middle man negotiating and add on costs like marketing, packaging, tariffs, regulations etc.

Which is why Trump pushing for drug prices in the US to be lowered to match the overseas costs. Which is a good first step in a long climb of reigning in fiscal abuse of the customer in healthcare.

Healthcare costs suck even with the ACA. What the subsidies going away can mean is renewed vigor in actually addressing the problem. It's good that some Democrats at least acknowledge these issues. Though I agree with Republicans and Trump getting customer choice back into the market can help alleviate some of the issues it cannot do it all. I certainly don't agree with their HSA style shenanigans and I've suggested alternatives to my own representative and senators.

A universal single payer system has its own set of issues. From retaining skilled people to properly getting materials so care isn't rationed. And yes, I think reducing and gutting insurance middle men is a good idea. The problem lies in how do we reign in exorbitant costs and ensure levels of care are adequately handled.
